20-days for vehicle registration; 10-days for driver's license for new residents.

Smog = bi-annual...vehicle registration = annual. Any new vehicle is exempt from smog testing for 6-years. Hybrids = no smog test ever.

For driver's license and getting the other car licensed dealing with the CA DMV was super easy...I have to commend them for how easy it was.

Good Morning,

I believe since I am now fully aware of the situation that a past employee has put us in I feel that it is my duty on behalf of DT Headers to inform our fans, customers, and of course those of you that are rightfully upset with us.

In 2011 when the 1st set of 100 series were developed for the 99-04 models and then for the 05-07 models, all necessary paperwork was submitted. This bundle of paperwork was submitted with multiple other numbers for CARB approval to include other Toyota models and several unrelated GM models.

Three months later we received a response stating that certain numbers would be "carried over" based on previous testing, and the 100-series shortie headers would be included in that carry over.

Based on that information, an employee decided to start a group buy on the 100-series headers. All paperwork and written marketing related to these headers did & has always stated "CARB Pending", however it sounds like you were prematurely lead to believe the approval had already been received. As of now these are basically considered Off-road headers until our CARB EO number is presented to us.

During the duration of time between now and then several events have taken place with DT headers. Our company has moved, severed a partnered relationship with Jardine Performance Products (an aftermarket motorcycle company), and changed management and sales staff.

Needless to say that CARB along with us did not follow up with each other and let numerous items fall through the cracks. This paperwork was resubmitted recently ago and we are currently waiting on their response again. They are good people, but the more we push them the more we seem to cause delays in the end.

As to customers having cracked headers at the weld. We have always had a LIMITED lifetime warranty and if that is defect from us or by our doing we will address that as they come along. Please feel free to call me or Private Message me about your issue and I will get back to you as soon as I can. To those of you with immediate smog testing issues, please contact me via PM or phone. We will do anything we can to resolve your issue in the interim time period until our EO paperwork gets back to us.

Please keep in mind I, Mike Johnson handle the Sales, Shipping, and Warranty. I am pretty busy to say the least, but I am eager to help all of our customers.

Thank you and Very Respectfully Submitted,

Mike Johnson

Mike,

Thank you for your forthright explanation!

Dan

Thanks Mike. I have recently have started hearing the ominous "Fluttering" sound from my engine again, as I did prior to installing your Headers last November. This sound had gone away after said installation.

Is this sound the signal for a cracked Header again? How can I best diagnose this potential problem. I am not too excited about having to shell out $800-$1000 for another set to be reinstalled, if this is the case.

Thank you for your insight, help and timely response!

Brad

try to re-tighten your header and all connections to the header. I have had a couple customers explain to me that this has happened and they simply re-tightened and this went away.

If not, send me an email in which will need, your original purchase record either provided by us or through the company you purchased from and some pics of any cracks. We will examine them and let you know the next course of action from there.

Mike

Thanks Mike. It will take me a few days before I can get it looked at, but will let you know. Hopefully, it's nothing more than simply tightening up those bolts! I appreciate your quick response and instructions!

Brad

Great, well-written reply Mike. And as a data point, I'm one of the original GB participants and haven't had any problems in 20k miles.

URG. My stock manifolds just started ticking. Can these be fixed by welding the cracks in place? If not will DT headers work in Virginia and pass inspection?

Some have had success welding them, some have not. The amount of labor needed to swap them out would make me hesitant to take a risk (welding them). Check your local laws, I doubt you will have an issue with the DT's. Paint them black before you install them!

I am wondering if black paint and jury rigged heat shields might not help a visual inspection.....

Funny at the last smog here in CA, the guy barely looked under the hood. I smoged my 04 when I bought it three years ago, but have done renewals without any smog requirements yet.

Bump. Any thoughts? What are my other options? Is there another header option?

Also, is the noise at the tailpipe increased? This is still my wife's rig (she seriously won't let it go) and she wants it to sound stock.

Still waiting to hear about the EO # (Smog cert.) Other than that I am happy with my headers, there is no noticeable increase in tailpipe noise IMHO.

In order to get these headers past smog We are now to search for another test vehicle, we need the following based on CARB's demand to get several numbers past.

2012 Tacoma
MUST HAVE THIS ENGINE CODE LISTED BELOW. CANNOT BE ANYTHING BUT THIS ONE.

****CTYXT04.0BEM*****

this can be found on the radiator support or underside of the hood.

The person who has this on there vehicle and is willing to let us use this for testing will then get a free set of smog legal headers installed for there Tacoma.

Thanks,

This affects the 100 series headers???

Thanks,

I would post this on Tacomaworld.com . I am sure there are plenty of members that want free headers, and even more members wanting CARB compliant headers.
