Why not take the Tundra CARB Compliant paperwork and apply it to the 100? The engine is the same in every aspect except for a few things. You said if one works, they all do...I fail to see how a Tacoma 6-Cylinder is the same as the 2UZ-FE...or even remotely similar

I live in GA, I could have exhaust stacks coming out of my hood and nobody would care...not trying to start a debate. Just pointing out that you already have a CARB compliant header for the exact same motor, it's just different bends.

I am pretty sure this is illegal, but for the 100 guys that have failed or having issues with getting your truck certified, couldn't you tell them it's the i-force V8 and use the Tundra CARB #'s for emissions? On paper the Tundra and 100 have identical motor specs, and at first glance the headers look identical.

^ not in Cali. The smog shops cross check via computer the certificate # to the actual document at CARB (California Air Resource Board).

My guess is, it's on a per submission basis, so if the 100 headers were submitted to CARB at the same the Tundra headers were, CARB would have approved the whole lot based on the same type of test-one-of-'em method.

:meh:

How do we get a replacement set? Mine failed on both sides.

Thanks.

Andrew

Uh oh. Where did they fail and how many miles did you have on them? And how long ago did you order them? Sorry for all the questions but I installed mine back in the spring and am hoping they last a long time...

Mine were the first or second ever produced. ;)

I think the first set were on the test fit truck in Cali.

You should be to go. They corrected the welds and I have not heard of additional issues.

Trying to get replaced for free since the install is a bear.

2nd set of DT headers here...DT sent a pair of the SS 304 ceramic 2nd gen to replace the badly cracked set of 1st gen (both DS and PS cracked)...PS ticking started last week...need to remove it to verify its the header but it sounds identical to the last pair of cracked DT headers.

U going bank to stock. Any other choices. Not paying to fix this every few years. ;)

Hopefully they will take care of both you guys but like you said that still doesn't help you with the PITA install...

No other choices AFAIK: Stock (leak prone) and DT (also leak prone and no CARB cert for us cali residents...wishing they actually were "50-state legal" per their banner).

Not sure what I'll do if the headers are cracked again. Pick your poison I guess...OEM = $350/side?

Although I have better places to put my time the PS is a snap to swap...about 90-minutes max (practice makes perfect :crybaby:). However as most know the DS is a RPITA.

AFAIK, the OE manifold/headers were redesigned in 2003.... and that design replaces the earlier PN for 98-02 years. Anybody crack their '03-'05 OE manifolds?

Mine was ticking and making noise. Not sure if that constituted a leak. My DT's are still working fine

I'm gonna have to bump this... I really want the full system. Any more updates on the CARB certification @Doug Thorley Headers?

I have not checked with the CA DMV lately; however given how much mud DT had on their face from promise after failed promise here on IH8MUD about their grand CARB certificate lie for their 2UZ-FE '98-'07 100/470 headers...I assume they are still not CARB compliant. But a quick stop at any smog shop in CA will tell...
