No leaks, the car stays cool. 226k miles. I just bought this car and I've heard horror stories of these radiators failing if the tanks are discolored... please advise.

Yes. Also the upper radiator hose is installed incorrectly. The sides have been switched, as a result, the hose is hitting the beauty cover. OEM hose has to paint markings, While (away from the engine) and yellow (towards the engine).

Soon, if you want to be safe… or watch closely if you wanna risk it a while.

Replace it. If that’s the original with 226k on it, it owes you nothing.

It's ticking... it's just a matter of when it decides to dump all your coolant.

Go find a Denso unit if you can't get Toyota.

Yes you need to replace that. And fix the upper hose orientation. Use constant tension OEM clamps like the ones on there - no worm clamps.

If you have a little time, you can wait for Serra Toyota to have one of their parts sales and you can get an OEM for a good price. The OEM will come with a cap, I don't know if the Denso does. If this is a daily driver, then maybe waiting is not an option.

Pretty sure shipping to Japan will kill any sale deal. Get an OEM one locally, even if it's slightly more expensive. Too many threads of people using off brands and having to replace them a few years later vs. decades later.

Looking pretty crusty.. Both of mine were way darker (lighter is worse) when they failed. Just did this on my 06 change your Heater T's when you do this, and combine a coolant service.

While I do the radiator replacement. I will also be putting a new OEM Toyota drive belt is there any pulleys or tensioners that you all recommend to replace while I’m in there?

when was the timing belt last done?
WAG is the heater "T"s need replaced also
