Does anyone make mounts to go on the wind shield hinge of a 40 to mount lights, like this, but for 40s?

I was going to make some out of stainless i have lying around, but i figured if someone already has them for what these were on ebay, I'd just buy them. (These are for jeeps)

Thanks,

(1) Would prevent you from folding windshield frame down onto hood rubber pads. (2) Would need hood painted flat black to reduce the glare from lights mounted in that area.

People have had them there for decades, don't think painting the hood is necessary. Thinner lights or mount a little wide should be fine. I haven't seen any for sale tho. Good luck. Post a pic when done, I'm interested too.

Maybe this will help with your idea for a light bracket.

Instead of mounting the bracket to the windshield frame mount it to the body part of the hinge. I used a piece of channel for added support. I made a couple of cuts to allow the 90 degree bend and had to grind a small section on the back side to clear the rail. New bolts with the same threads and I drilled a hole down the center of the bottom bolt to run the hot wire inside the cab without requiring an additional hole be drilled in the body. The bracket is long enough so that the windshield can be lowered without hitting the light and the lights are still 100% functional with the windshield down.

Unity used to make a bracket for their cop style spot light. The only problem was the hole you had to drill through the windshield frame...

So this could be interesting:

RAM LED Spotlight with 1" Ball - RAM-B-152B | RAM Mounts

Not sure how bright it is but allows for some cool mounting potential. See below images - you could take one screw out on the hinge and install the single bolt base. Then you use that double arm socket and clamp the light to the base by hand and plug into the lighter.

I really like the Ram mounts, but they do vibrate due to the rubber balls, even on the short arm versions. Its extremely aggravating to drive off road at night with lights that vibrate.

This is my crude version of what you are looking for. Built them out of scrap metal about 12 years ago. Uses the four mounting screws of the upper hinge. I'm able to fold the windshield down by turning the lights out on each side. No extra holes for wiring as they lay under the cowl to windshield seal.

Downey used to sell these brackets that mounted up on the windshield frame above the hinges. That may work for you

I have a big box of those brackets for sale at the shop. I used to run them back in the day. The higher mounting reduced the shadow caused by the truck itself, and kept the windshield easy to fold

$20/pr. Minimum order requirements apply.

Leave it to Mark to still have these! It would be fun to rummage around your shop to see all the goodness. :)

For the person who PMed me,

You should take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with my website: www.marksoffroad.net ;)

I was at Marks, asked for a rear "4 Wheel Drive" emblem, he only found about a dozen in a box up in the attic, and that probably was not his main stash of them???

You weren't supposed to tell! Your back room privileges are now on parole!

Just make some there easy to make. Just remember to adjust for angle of windshield. I forgot that part.
