So I’ve converted all my old cars to Pertronix, so it’s been a while since I’ve bought points, but if I remember correctly this yellow like Vaseline grease used to come in the box with points….might even have been dielectric. However, I also remember dabbing red wheel bearing grease on the rotar lobes.

I also assumed it was similar to dielectric/silicone grease. I've got every grease under the sun (blue, red, clear, white, grey, black, green, purple) but "distributor grease".

Is there an oil gallery in the '68 block that feeds the distributor shaft oil? I tend to remember something like that on my distributors, just below the O-ring groove? (below)
How do later Nippon Denso distributors receive oil? Also, HEI or AC Delco-type?

$or has it for only $99.95 a little tube j/k. I think a slight dab of high heat grease on phenolic block is serviceable

You know, I just flat out don’t know if there is an oil galley port in the block. I do know that dizy’s have 2 bushings, top and bottom. And I assume the oil cup would be the upper bushing. And always thought the lower bushing was splash lunricated with hole in the dizy body a drain back.
a OEM Points KIT in the Blister Pack comes with a tiny pouch of OEM Japan Spec. fully Synthetic food service grade Di-Electric Grease....
i have never seen it offered stand alone OEM TOYOTA parts ?

The distributor grease for the points is a high heat grease. If you use something like chassis grease, it will melt away and have your vehicle run like crap (that's if you're using points). I don't know if you can substitute high temp red grease to use in your distributor, but I do know they sell specific "points grease". I know my father had bought a tube of it a few years ago and I often find them at estate sales. Works good and the tube will last you a life time for how little you use to maintain the distributor.
As far as piling later style distributors, I have no idea. I wish they all came with the oil fill hole like shown in Mark's original post.

So Matt, whenever you post, all I ever receive is a blank page. I access mud on my iPhone through google…..so what format are you posting with. You should be able to get ignition points lube from Bosch. Their point sets always came with a little blister packet. Edit: bpnorthwest.com has a tube of points lube for 13.19 sku# SL2

you need to turn OFF the BULB-ICON here the all white screen mode , and go to the black back ground and MUD Orange Text / Font
my iphone often resets or defaults to the WHITE mode when i do my morning daily , OFF , then re-start tom it .....
the white screen mode hurts my eyes , after a short time too , i wear full time prescription eye wear for both far and up close mow too ,
make sense ?

The oil is not pressurized, on the surface of the camshaft, lobes and solid lifters. It wouldn't take much to splash around much there and get on the distributor shaft.
IIRC, 4Cruisers had a tube of something he was using to rebuild points-type distributors. I can't find anything using a search function for old posts on Mud.
As far as lubrication, those nylon bushes protect the governor springs from wearing metal-to-metal. They don't hold up well with rust dust, it appears. The springs get thin where they anchor on the cam, and the grooves on the cam get deepened by the springs. It look like this 2F performed as a submarine, stream-ford, quick substitute for a bridge using a snorkel, but, I think it was just just ozone from the ignition - mud daubers on the transmission, no goldfish in the bell-housing. I've sourced bushings from nylon parts from the Hillman hardware at ACE, drilled and trimmed to length - never ran the rebuilt unit though.
This distributor need someone to remove the pin holding the gear on, and have a machinist replace worn surfaces where the governor weights anchor. The distributor shaft seemed okay in the housing, not too much slop at the breaker plate side of things - it was oiled.

I think it's interesting that the Points and Rotor part numbers are applied to an Engine (F/2F) and not to a specific distributor part number. Is there a year lookup available for a specific distributor part number? Mine is 19100-60061..

Because you have a '68-looking distributor (metal line for ported vac), go with the small cap and rotor for the F - engine. 19102-41010 (rotor), and 19101-41010 (cap). Part numbers might have been removed, if the assembly has ever been rebuilt. Like a starter that I have, it says, "Bosch" on the outside, whereas before it had the Nippon Denso label and a Toyota or ND part-#.
I'd be more concerned about the centrifugal advance, if you haven't serviced it yet. Those springs are not what they were back in '68 on the governor weights, as rust can make the assembly kinda aggressive on the spark advance, especially if the spring has worn into the distributor spindle.
I rebuilt this 2F distributor, but you'll kinda see that the top spring is loose in its groove that it pulls against, the bottom one isn't that much better, so some of the mechanical advance is probably kicking in at idle, taking away a few degrees of advance at higher rpm. The other distributor, it had all kinds of damage from loosing the plastic bushings to rust-dust, and lack of lubrication, and it needs machine fabrication and springs to be put back into service.
