I've posted some pics and info on the main FJ40 section, but it seems like the older original Cruisers live here. Im looking forward
to learning as much as possible, and this seems like the best place to do that.

Here is what I know so far, I've only owned her for a couple of weeks now. Title says its a 64 FJ40, I would say she 98% stock, nothing has been cut or upgraded from what I can tell. No Bondo anywhere I can find. The PO inherited it from his great aunt, who inherited it from her brother who was the original owner. The PO also told me that his aunt had put some money into at one point, but after that it mostly sat in her garage until she moved out of the area. She starts right up without using the choke or pushing the gas pedal. The odometer shows just over 40k miles, which the PO said was the original mileage.

Here are a few pics...

I don't belong here...I only own a 74...not quite old enough :)

but...something keeps me coming back...i think its more relaxing and less stressful to be here LOL

ohhhh and its like a dipository of historic land cruiser and toyota information :) at least thats what i keep telling myself :hhmm:

self shut up now

:D

Nice rig! It has been redone at some point, but it still looks pretty clean.

What are your plans for it...clean as she seems, I hope you want to restore it and not rebuild it...but for now just enjoy it :)

I think you belong here if you want to keep it like it came from the factory or very close to it. This side of the house should be fj25 and real old fj40's. On the fj40 site you will get a lot more posts saying to upgrade the motor to a 2f and put disc brakes on it etc etc. Here you will get people who will really appreciate this find, and enjoy these fj's they way they were made. Most people on this side read both forums.

By the way welcome and real nice find.

My plans are still in the planning stages. Im definitely not going to tear everything out and drop a small block with an auto tranny in it. I want to keep it as original as possible. Right now I just can't wait to drive it.

The clutch master was shot when I bought it. I've ordered an "upgraded" master and slave from CCOT just to get it on the road, but apparently there is quite the wait. They told me today that it wont ship until the 24th. The other things I've ordered include new oil filters, fuel filter, and gaskets. I want to change all the fluids before I do much of anything. The only other thing I will need to get it on the road is a new turn signal switch. The threaded hole where the shifter shaft threads into is stripped out. I haven't found a great source for these yet.

Have you tried top reach Mark, CDan, or even SOR for your stuff? Mark and SOR are in CA, and should be able to help you out much quicker!!!

I never ordered from CCOT, so I have no idea!!

Thanks for the leads. I've contact SOR and they have the things I need in stock, time to cancel my order with CCOT.

A guide to if you fit in here:

answer the following. If you areswer No to all you'll probably alright.

Do the words Landcrusier and Chev ever go together?
Have you ever had the thought "I'll put a 4" lift in"?
When you see another crusier you couldn't careless?

And

The rig you have bought is probably the only Crusier you'll ever own?

Great looking truck - interior look sensational.

Cheers Dobster

Do the words Landcrusier and Chev ever go together?
Yes, but only when the Toyota is pulling the Chevy out the mud, snow, or sand.
Have you ever had the thought "I'll put a 4" lift in"?
Never thought that about the FJ, but there are lifts on the Tundra, and Tacoma. Still trying to talk to wife into one for her 4-Runner
When you see another crusier you couldn't careless?
No I usually turn my head and the wife has to take the wheel so we dont crash.
The rig you have bought is probably the only Crusier you'll ever own? I hope not.

Welcome, you'll find a wealth of useless trivia here......................................for example, did you know that the very hard to find stock rear view mirror is hidden under that honkin' big rear view mirror. ;)

That's an awesome 40, welcome, enjoy and do what you want with it, after all it's your's. Please keep us posted with the progress, and more pic's.

Mind if someone else comes over frequently? Have been a member on board for a few years and never ventured away from the 40 side. Through moving a few spare parts in the classified I discovered those adicted to the oldies. Have always been focused on resto rather than serious mods. Have a '65, a '66, '72, and '78. Will the '65 let me stick around? I am not adicted to Cruisers----cant count the times I have seen one on the road and stopped the driver to chat.

I lurk here all the time. I love the early 40's ...... wish mine were an older model!

Great looking machine you have there.
