Hot dam! The winch works... I finished a clean install with the control box attached on top of the winch and easily accessible if the batteries in the remote go out and it needs to plug in. I connected the winch directly to the battery terminals for now, as per Warn instructions. I'll likely add a separate shut off switch at some point. The way the winch hook snuggles up against the rubber AEV Winch Hook Isolator on the fairlead leads to a real clean and tight fit, so I'll just keep the front plate on when I'm not wheeling and it's a hidden winch to keep away the riffraff. Woot woot! Winch accomplished.

UPS guy just lugged these up to the front door… :) that was literally a 48 hour delivery from @BudBuilt. Absolutely awesome. Can’t thank Bud enough.

And... fixed that annoying driver's side mirror rattle:

1) Pop off the small cover piece with a tiny allen key- try not to break too many tabs off
2) Tighten the three bolts with a T25 torx key
3) Pop back on the little cover
4) Enjoy no more mirror rattle

How are we going to drag you through the hard stuff if you don't have all the skids?
@afgman786 Is this better? Got the BudBuilt transfer case and gas tank skids installed.

Bud now includes this nifty custom heat shield with the transfer case skid so you no longer have to cut the OEM one. Nice touch.

Also stretched out the new winch line…

And took some glamour shots… sitin’ pretty…

And I thought it was pretty funny that I had no injuries wrenching on this for 5 months… until the very last bolt of the build busted my knuckle. Classic. Wouldn’t ask for anything else…

Important question is did you smash on either of those skids this weekend?

No. Didn't touch any skids this weekend... nor did I need the winch, but I did kiss the sliders and rear bumper with loose boulders a few times.

That is a great shot of the expert spotting you got on Saturday!
.... and the 200 looks great too!

I definitely appreciate your spotting as well!

Thought I'd take some clearance measurements again now that I've got all the weight of the BudBuilt skids (front, engine, transmission, transfer case, gas tank), BudBuilt rock sliders, and Warn VR EVO 10-S winch (hidden in the bumper with the winch hook snugged up behind the license plate) and the suspension has settled in for a bit more than a month.

These are the Medium Old Man Emu 2" front and 0.75" rear springs from @cruiseroutfit *with 275/70R18 E-Rated BFG K02 Tires on OEM wheels and Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers. (*Edited to add tire info)

The truck is sitting with a perfect 12" of ground clearance under the engine skid. It measures 37.5" at the front fender and 38.5" at the rear fender. I get pretty close measurements for both passenger and driver side. I'm very happy with the setup. It drives real nice both on and off road. Couldn't be happier.

What size tires and total height at the top of the roof rack?

The tires are 275/70R18 E-Rated K02s. My son's doctor office parking garage has a height sign of 6'8" and the rack will touch the sign at a certain angle.

Similar setup to what I’ll be installing soon. Same size tires, for now. OEM front spacers and 275’s and it measures 6’7.5” so a lift will definitely put it at 6’10”.

Yeah, I just measured and confirmed 6'8" at the rack. What clearance do you currently get under the lowest part of the engine skid?

IDK, I'll have to get a tape under there tomorrow when I get back.

custom heat shield = Gad damn it bud... I thought I was done spending money with you. lol Nice build and thread. Keep it up.

Replaced Door Belt Moulding for all side windows. Sourced from Japan. 1/2 banana job to pull off old ones and replace. Maybe even easier than some wiper blade replacements. Just pull to remove and the new ones click in easily. I find the new window moulding to be super sexy. Pro tip- roll the windows down first.

On this door molding.... this would replace the Chrome Molding on say a 2017 Right? Sure looks like it...

Thanks

You may be on to something. I don't see why not... 🤔 You would still have to figure out the rear side window trim though. From the interwebs regarding GX460 trim, might apply here as well:

"However, it doesn't include the rear 'third row' windows. That trim can only be replaced by replacing the entire glass, so for those we recommend matte black vinyl wrap or PlastiDip."

Thanks... I was just looking at that, and maybe just wrap it is the easiest answer for the rear windows... or scuff and paint.
Anyway bring to come up with a bit of plan. Thank you

Strapped a tree to the roof today. Decided to take it off the truck when I got home and put it in the living room for now. I'll probably end up throwing it out in a couple weeks.
