Interesting... mine doesn't smoke as much as your on start-up but I will have to switch to the V-Power. I am running regular shell right now.
Sounds like its time ot get off the island and move north![]()
Seems strange that yours is so sensitive to #1 vs. #2 diesel. What could be causing it to smoke in the summer blend vs. the winter blend? There's anti-gelling additives in the winter, what else? Is the diesel exhaust smell gone away with the winter fuel as well as the smoke?
Working on that.
Any other ideas?
Well I would not waist the money on the high end #2 diesel. Maybe its cranky on cold non winter blend diesel, does it do this even when warm?
The other thought is diesel in general do not like short trips, they like good runs at operating temp maybe this is playing into it some.
Where would I get that? And do I need to do anything to the truck? Is it safe to run in these engines?
B99 would jell up at this temp would it not?
I can get B50 over here but it costs an arm and a leg.
Mine smokes but I can't tell if its as much as yours and I attribute it to my turbo seal cuz I use a little bit of oil in 5000kms, I have not done much digging into the problem as sometimes it's really bad and other times it is not. Like getting Diesel in whistler at the Husky resulted in a clean burn but i also bought diesel in Tulalip a month ago at the Chevron and she still had that blueish haze.
For me redirecting the crankcase vent into a catch can and to outside air helped a bit but who knows.
