Two things I hate cycling, hills and headwinds!!!
This was enough that a hill that you can clip 60km/h down I was pedaling to get to 45km/h....

Rode a bit with my friend Chelsea… this morning.

And then did a solo ride up the canyon.

Cheers fellow peddlers.

After losing my hard tail to theft in Canada I bought a Specialized Stump jumper,
my first experience with a full suspension bike. Took it up Perseverance this AM, my favorite backyard route. It’s about 8 miles RT from home with approximately 1,000 ft elevation gain. Gravel and boardwalk access to the trail head is flat. The bridge under construction all summer has finally been finished, more or less.
New bike is definitely an upgrade, noticeably superior both uphill and down.
I thought the bigger 29” wheels would be less nimble but at my low skill level this hasn’t been perceptible.

Nice, I love the flex and additional rolling resistance from the 29” diameter. I would never go back to 27.5’s. The rougher the terrain the better they perform.

I’ve still been nursing my back and this past weekend I did 3 rides in a row. Bad call. Spent all of Sunday afternoon horizontal and then stretching. This getting old shĩt is getting old.

Anyway, my friend Blaire wanted to do a sunset ride tonight. Sunset rides are always a good call. Especially when you bring a bomber with. 😂😂

Getting old is definitely no fun!! But don't get me started about the wind.

Another almost metric in the books. No where near as fast as last weekend. My legs felt like jello since we did 3 hard rides/climbs during the week.

From Draper up Provo Canyon to Vivian Park. When we hit the mouth of canyon we were greeted with a 20 mph headwind and temps in the mid 50s (huh?).

Thankfully (!) road with a friend on the way back who just didn't have many miles this year.

Could have ridden faster, but who cares? 15 - 20 minutes earlier? Naw.

I’m looking forward to building my first 29” bike hopefully next week when the frame lands. Both of my current bikes 27.5”

Heck yeah, I rode today. Fall, Fall, Day!!
Low 60s, no humidity, cool breeze means I spanked this ride. 11 miles with almost 600 feet of climbing.

Fastest pace of the year.

Bonus points for the Great Blue heron launching off a bridge into the air less than 15 feet in front of my wheel.

Great freakin’ ride! RHR pre ride. Not bad for a 62 year old git.

Oh man, I'd kill for a fall like day! 34 miles starting temps in the low 80's and finished in the mid 90's! Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more!!!

Perfect day here in Cackalacky del Norte, did some miles on the American Tobacco Trail and the entirety of White Oak Creek Greenway - 17 miles total. Ended riding a while with a guy on a Kona Rove, as I am curious about that specific bike - he loves the bike and it appeared he wasn't working as hard as I was (but it was easy riding regardless).

Obligatory post-ride beer at Vicious Fishes!
