She’s still recovering from two years of knee surgeries. But getting out and pushing. I respect and commend her.

Then hung out with UK bike mag peeps. They were a chatty bunch.

A number of us didn't want to ride up Little Cottonwood Canyon on the weekend. So we rode north up through Memory Grove and around the Capitol and then into Bountiful on a bone-jarring, teeth shattering frontage road. And of course everyone wore the most recent club jersey.

. . . and keeping up with those e-bikes? Wow.

^^ That’s a big ride. How does the group organize? What are the parameters (if any)?

Jerseys: So everyone has a collective interest and roughly the same skill set/abilities: would love to know how the group operates.

Hey Beno - Our club is a 501(3)(c). We've sponsored rides for as long as I've been a member, but our biggest fundraiser is Little Red Riding Hood in Cache Valley, UT. Most of the proceeds go to Huntsman Cancer Institute but it helps subsidize our website, club jerseys, year end banquet, picnics, etc. Everything is volunteer. If you check out the calendar on the website you'll see all the rides people have posted to lead, each for a different skill level, pace and terrain. Club members (dues are ~$35/yr) post a ride they want to lead, either a new ride or course, or one chosen from hundreds of rides others have led in the past all in our club Ride with GPS account/library going back years. Anyone can join a ride. Just show up, sign a waiver (everyone has to sign), and follow the group or someone going the same pace.

Hopefully that gives you an idea of how we roll. After spending the first 10 to 15 years riding solo or with another person, it was nice to join a group and ride with other like-minded people after moving here. Plus, going in groups, at least IMO, seems to be safer on the busier roads/streets.

Counted 26 welts/blisters on my lower left leg from those damn ants, but I've been able to get back out on the bikes the past few days. Started with an easy 15-miler on my ebike, then a 14-miler on my regular bike. Seems taking 3-4 days off made me lose all fitness...

Beno,
After reading your thread on what got you to ride and what you went through.
It inspired me to get on my bike after my health scare back in April. Since then I have lost close to 50 lbs. and has gotten me back on the bike with more motivation not to get the weight I was. I feel lighter and with more energy to enjoy my bike rides.
This thread in itself has pushed me. I feel more and more being able to reach certain milestone.
And yes it is awesome to see people use bikes for what they are intended for.
Awesome! 👏
Nice work! I was hit by something in life pretty hard and turned back to pedaling. Lost 60 lbs myself. Stick with it, it can be life changing.

I've been away from home for abit and while I was gone I had a LBS do a gearing change....More climbing gearing suitable for my lack of fitness and terrain....40 teeth up front (stock) and 52 in the rear for the uppities....

Another great day in the saddle.

Thank you.

Gotta support the people you know, personally. Who make a buck or two off their friends.

I’m ok with experts in a body of knowledge to make money from me. That makes sense to me.

The first time you see what it takes to bleed a set of sram brakes and a set of shimano brakes, you’ll be a convert!
