Surprisingly not much information on this other than a thread from a few years ago:
TOYOTA ATF Type T IV
In trying to simplify my garage's supply cabinet, both my 80 and 100 run the same 5w-30 motor oil and I use the same 75w-90 gear oil on both transfer cases and all 4 diffs.
My LX is an '03 so that uses type iv transmission fluid. I believe the following year it was switched to WS. On my 80, it calls for dexron ii in the transmission, which should also allow dexron iii. I'm not an oil expert but I would think that a newer fluid would have all of the same protective properties of an older fluid, plus some (with the exception of WS, which sounds like its in another category).
Has anyone run type iv in the A440f long term without any issues? I'm about to do a bulk fluid order on amazon and am back and forth on making the switch to type iv in the 80.
