Will try to call the shop tomorrow and see whats shakin :D

Hey Destin, I'm with you on the work thing the financial crisis is way behind us in Aus. You probably know this but ensure the engine shop know you expect them to tune it back to the standard you had it at.

Cheers Dobster

yeah the cats at landcruiser NW are dope.

I think they gonna do a compression check etc too to make sure all is good :)

can you guys help me with a list of all the things i should check when this thing is all back together?

I just want to be able to truck the motor not to go out in the middle of no where etc ;)

I try to be pretty thorough, but input is always good, do not want to have to take this motor back again to be fixed.

thanks guys :)

I am guessing:

( in no real order here btw )

1) check timing
2) check points
3) check vacuum
4) rpms/dwell
5) check compression
6) valves
7) recheck temp gauges

new bits:

-new water pump
-cleaned radiator
-new thermostat

:)

Destin, I just saw an f engine on craigslist in springfield ,not sure how far from you but it is an f135 with 10k on a rebuilt, pulled from an fj45 for conversion,$500...Possible back up motor,if god forbid your engine doesnt cooperate....

If you want to be sure just ask the engine rebuilder what to do, that way they can never say you did something wrong or forgot to replace a part.:D

emailed the guy about the extra motor on craigslist.

hopefully that might pan out.

I really hope the motor i jsut had rebuilt is reliable though, was a lot of chedder for nothign if it keeps jacking up...

gotta be optimistic i guess though ;)
kinda running low on it thought hehe.

maybe i should have bought a used motor to begin with ;)

Look at it this way, better to have two good old motors (with hard to find parts) so no matter what, you'll be good to go. If it was a newer 2F, I would not have worried about a second engine...they and parts are easier to find

Never look back, the futures is what count. ;)
If they do it right, your engine will run smooth & fine. Again it`s not
high tech engine.
They rebuild such engines in developing countries without any problem and they run and run and r..
...over decades ;)
Cheers
Peter

With as nice of job you did on the restoration it would be a shame not to have the engine in it that is marked on the VIN plate. The earlier Cruiser were the only ones with that info on the VIN plate. Just remember these are tractor engines. If you keep them out of the upper RPM range they will last for ever with the right maintenance. That and if they were rebuilt correctly.

this carb is on its way to Mark for a proper rebuild.

Finally have one with no warping, proper float that has no leaks, and all the proper bits

Cleaned the s*** outta the inside with carb cleaner and let it dry out etc before send, should be easy to rebuild now i hope :)
