Are you going to have them install the freeze plugs for you? (They were my bane.)

I am sure it's a must for warrantable issues.

Yeah I am sure they are :D

They have rebuilt 100' and 100's of these, these guys know their s***.
Cool people too!

I suspect they haven't rebuilt all that many F135s with dish shaped plugs. I will be interested to hear how they do it, if you'd be so kind as to ask them for me.

I guess they do quite a few f135's a year for a few restoration cats here in oregon. I would be happy to ask them how they do it the next time i drop in:)

That's something! Thanks! After blowing one on the highway between here and yon, not to mention blowing one out in my garage, I've been a little paranoid. ;)

damn!

Cool I will drop by today and ask the main engineer dude :D

To be clear you want me to ask him how they secure the dished freeze plugs yeah?

:)

chatted with the engine cats

They say the dished plugs should be snug in the holes, and slipped/tapped in with some sealant around the edge.

The concave plugs obviously become less concave to become snug :D

OK, but I'd like to know what sealant they use, because I think I tried 4 different things and I'm still not totally confident, although I gave it a good test this weekend and it passed. I don't know what the prior owners used (and it might have been from the factory--I guess I'll never know), but I'd been daily driving my truck for 4 years before the one blew out a year ago!

Np, I will ask next time I am in for the brand name. :D

I blew out the front one on the freeway about 5 years ago. Couldn't figure out why the gallon of antifreeze in the back was so smelly.:crybaby:
From then on I never went anywhere without a spare rubber one in the glove box. Napa and Autozone have them for a couple bucks. Matter of fact, that rubber one stayed in my F until I gave it away for the F.5. Cheap insurance.

Real mechanics cringe at the thought of a rubber freez plug. I'm not a real mechanic so that is why I have 2 of them in my Ford:D. Have worked great for me for years. Every couple of years I change them when i change my anti-freez. A spare can be a real life saver and like you said they are cheep

Rod

Yup. The rubber spare was what got me home without a tow.

what did you do to your toe?

Dropped a floor jack on it! (how did you know?) lol
toeoww (Small).webp

I keep checking in to see some freshly machined motor pics....your slacking!!!

haha I know man I am the worst :D
I dropped by they other day but forgot my camera and cell, lame i know.
s*** looks dope though, these guys rock.
Taking a bit longer as they had to machine some parts that are no longer available, but no biggie :D

Tomorrow is May 1st. Got Updates?:steer:Brendon
