.... Dallas used a later 40 vinyl mat in his cabin, I have just seen.
I cut my cabin mats from this rubber.
I like the "naked red look " of the gearbox tunnel in my 45
Cheers

Destin,

Your cruiser is looking very very nice. I congratulate you on your progress. I am going to be starting the restoration of my 1978 FJ40 this fall, I hope it turns out as good. I am going to lightly wheel it this summer.

In the meantime, I just wanted to say "nice work". This is such an exciting part of the process, isn't it? So fun and so rewarding.

Question: Are the bumperettes supposed to be body color? I thought they were all silver and the early ones, white. I could be mistaken. I think they look great in red as well, but in my opinion the silver bumperettes with red paint would look stellar. If body painted is correct - don't mind me he he he.

I am impressed - again, it is getting me excited to start restoring this 1978 FJ40 - but I'll *try* to be patient.

All the best and thanks for all the posts.

Thanks man :D

You start a resto thread for the 40 you picked up?
Would love to see some photos of the rig before ya start :D

The Bumperettes were red when I got it, and from what I have researched they were on the 64 fj40's. I could be wrong however ;)
I am digging them red regardless :D

Dropping the seats off today with shane to get recovered in that coral brown vinyl, stock style :D

Stocked :D

how about white floor mats in the dimond pattern like the toyota bj jeeps had :D

As far as I know bumperettes were body color until '64...so was the side mirror, turn signals, and the gas cap.

x 3 on Dom's mats...they look awesome:beer:

I will also be getting floor mats :)

Don't want Mr Greenspan correcting me....;)

yes kids I have a perfect match this go around...The last was a little more orange or coral. But I really did like though.....

I would post a picture, but I wrote my notes all over the sample. It should be here Wed morning.

And as far as pictures go, I am looking for how they are correctly attached at the sides and the back where the plate attaches. I know there is a welt around this edge, but don't know where it stops and begins. and really want these to be dead on correct.

...I am hoping that someone can pipe in here, as my poor '64 is covered for the winter :frown:

If no one pipes up I can try and get to them and take a few really close pics for you...please let me know in a PM if someone else gets to it before me.

Would love a set...I just don't think I'll be able to swing it right now :frown::frown::frown:

If you can snap a few photos that would be great, but if it is covered in snow I totally understand :D

Here is the back of the seats of mine before.
They are clearly not original though, but recovered, I dunno how accurate they are...
