Or just move to the desert where you have to work to get things to rust.:) But then it is hard on plastic and rubber parts.:frown:

Thin nylon washers and Vaseline are the true trick to assembly. You can torque down without tearing paint, another tip, wisdom I have done it and nothing works better Mr Greenspan. Kinda like sweating metal before paint.. O **** is that why modern paint booths pre heat and get over 100 degrees??

Also expansion foam in all captive and box areas to kill oxygen and moisture.
my number 1 is ballistol - The World's Most Use-ful & Environmentally Friendly Lubricant

Living in the Past Or just move to the desert where you have to work to get things to rust.

works even fine one rubber and other surfaces
"Lubricates, cleans, & protects metal, plastic, rubber, & wood. Outstanding penetrating oil, creeps into the finest cracks, loosens nuts & bolts. Also use as a cutting/boring. ;)

Oh ya :bounce::bounce2::bounce:

Gotta ask...did you take pics of it behind the wrecker...both going and coming back from the body shop?

Omy!!! You will not be getting much sleep for the next week!

Oy tell me about it!
I am hoping to get to work on it this weekend, but I am in the middle of localizing a site into Japanese for this nissan project.

oy, but I am happy to have it done :D

Need to sneak and grab some painted parts before friday so i can work on it :D

Man that is looking sweet

Reguarding mounting the body to the frame: bolt the body to the mounts loosly, attach fenders, aprons, front bib, and hood. then shut the hood to align all panels, when happy bolt it tight and check everything for squareness. Then loosten all bolts and align and tighten the body again. It will be perfect. Too many frame off folks get the body back, bolt it down and can't get the front clip square. Simple "'DO IT TWICE" operation. PS, lookin great. John

This in a nut shell is the correct way. So many folks drop the tub on and then try to install everything else and it just doesn't work.

Hey Shane, think I can get your help shimming the tub mounts and getting it square one weekend>?

I think there is a science to it, and I rather do it right once then 8 times :D

Was the paint baked after to harden and cure? If so I would like to tape all the edges with "BLUE" tape NEVER use tan masking. This way you/me/we can make the adjustments without the fear of damage.

Paint test, hidden area press your finger or finger nail into paint hard. I have set doors on blankets and hours later found they made an impression in the paint, faint but still needed to be wet sanded.

I am trying to buy a M416 trailer this weekend and that is my only plan so far.

I will also round up nylon washers for it.

What are you using for hardware?

Mount all frame to tub mounts and bolt them up with correct hardware and leave loose.

Use shop rages and cover and tape the rear corners where the tail lights are.

Cool man :)

I maight take some photos of the mounts so you guys can see if I am using them correctly etc.
I think the brand was daystar.. supposed to be factory style.

Paint was not baked, so I might want to let everything cure for a while before reassembling it :(
Nice tip on the tape!

They have not painted the fenders and bows yet ( nor bolts and screws ) So looks like I will be waiting a bit anyway. But if the paint is cured enough to pop on the tail gate and install the gas tank etc, It might give me something to do this weekend :D

Dope, I want to see picks of the m416 trailer!
After I get this thing together I am gonna get one :D

When you open the garage man door can you smell paint? Or can you open the door with your eyes close and smell it? If so its not cured yet.

True story, I bought a restored FJ40 about 10 years ago from some dumb ass, the thing would not pass DEQ as the sniffer was picking up the fumes from the paint and I could not keep it in the garage as it stunk so bad. Who ever painted it did not mix correctly and proly not cured to this day. It went back to the seller....

nope no paint smell at all :D
So I am thinking that is a good sign :D
