personally I like/prefer having it at a member residence and voluteer our house to host it. I like the ability to mingle better. (and I have free beer on tap)

then my suggestion would be to donate a larger sum to Blue Ribbon or NMOHVA or such and save back enough for budget and maybe a shirt order, etc. I think our money would be better served there than a party.

we can have the club pay for food for the party like the last couple years.

that's my suggestion.:D

If Shawn is cool with that then I think it's a great idea to have it at their house....that is not just the free micro brew talking, I think it does offer better mingling.

Just to clarify, I also like Ash's idea- especially if he orders the Bravissimo.
I'm also happy to look into La Choza up here if we want other options. The manager is a mate and loves cruisers. I can see whether we can get mate's rates for a big spread.

I'm too cheap to think that any of those Buca di Beppo options sound like a good deal. What has the typical bill for Rudy's bbq been the past couple of years?

I'm with Shawn.

First, let's lock in the date of Saturday 12/15 if that works for folks. This gets to be a super busy time of year and the sooner we can lock in a date, the better.

I'm fine with either option (restaurant or Shawn's), but my preference would be to go to Shawn and Jill's place. I was standing there when they offered, so I'm comfortable that they're OK with that option.

I appreciate Ash's efforts and research to figure out the restaurant option and suggest something different for us. However, the main idea for my preference of someone's house is just more flexibility to meet and chat with everyone. In a restaurant setting, you are generally only able to talk to the few people sitting very close. Also, chances are we would be locked in to the time period specified (5 - 7 PM), since there would likely be another group after us for their own Christmas party. And in the middle of December, standing outside to chat with those you missed during the gathering probably is not that realistic.

I'm also OK with Rudy's food, if we decide to have the gathering at Shawn & Jill's. I love their food and look forward to it this time of year.

So there's my two cents. If the majority of folks prefer the restaurant option, that's fine as well. Ellen and I plan to attend either way. But it sounds like Ash needs a quick commitment one way or the other, so get your votes in soon if you want to voice your opinion.

Happy Thanksgiving!

the date is perfect for me.

I agree with having it at Shawn's and donating the rest constructively to some 4x4 organization. I also like Pappy's idea of finding out what NMOHVA would do with it before giving them any more.

Sounds like the majority is favoring xmas party at the Williams this year so let's go with that.

Does this group want to be adventurous and try something else besides Rudy this year?

I am open to anything. I do like Rudy's, but am not set on it.

I'm also fine to try something else. Here's a couple of ideas:

Olive Garden has big pans of lasagna that are good with their salad and breadsticks.

Monroe's will cater or prepare for takeout (Mexican food) - platters of enchiladas, guacamole, etc.

Is it just me, or is it time for lunch?!?

I'm open for any suggestions (except maybe not sushi)...

I've seen ads for party trays when I've been to my local Twister's.

Sushi was going to be my suggestion....shot down in its prime.

:pGulf Oysters on the half shell and cracked pepper seared tuna:p

Where I've been living the last few lifetimes it was the only tucker worth eating... I have to get used to being back with all the good chow. :-)

How about Olive Garden then?
