Hey All,

I was looking at the TLCA magazine from a few months ago where they featured the ICON FJ40. It had some cool bolts with an LED in each and served for illuminating the dash. Well I found similar parts on eBay. I plan to put these on my cruiser later this winter and just wanted to share with my brothers.

Very cool. Nice bling.

You do know you can replace the current dash pad light bulb with a L.E.D. festoon. It's bright and very cheap. Maybe 2 dollars.

where do you buy them??? any where?

The bulb your looking for is a 3022. They call them festoons. Most places sell a wide variety of them in all kinds of configs. Most are under $2 now. Back when I bough mine I think I paid close to $8 for mine. But that was 2 years ago. They have gotten a lot cheaper since then.

Just one place I know of.

Also just to give you an idea of the different types. Key is to find one that has the same color as your lens in the dashpad. Most are green. It will give you more useable light.

Great links. From the superbright link it looks as though either the T1.5x or the NEO-x with the twist lock bases would drop right into the gauge cluster in place of the OEM bulbs. How do you guys mount the 3022 festoons?

There are a lot better bulbs out there than what I bought. Now they have bulbs that don't put off the blueish light. They have ones that look really close to a stock bulb. But 3 years later they all work. I have no ground issues. I can leave my parking and interior lights on for a week and still crank the truck.

Only draw back is you cannot dim them with the light dimmer. You get what you get. So be careful about buying the brightest lights. Outside it's fine to get the brightest. Inside you don't want to have to wear your sunglasses at night. Damn who remembers that song. lol

I gotta say I wish that I had that problem...I haven't ever had a functioning dimmer. As dim as my upgraded incandescent bulbs still are I need to give up the bulb ghost and step up to LEDs. Thanks for the link.

I thought the same thing and after searching I found other lamps that could be replaced. These use less current so you also get an extra benefit for using them....especially when you leave your lights on.:D Oh someone already said that.

cool.. thanks I will order one to give it a try... my light is green

I've got the aftermarket Dash Box and have been looking for something I can mount on it to illuminate the dash switches. I called the company that machine these and they said that they are going to be offering them in black powder coated Aluminum next week for the same price. Ordered a set of two. Thanks for the post.

it doesn't show up well with the camera but is very bright. i used neon rope light. pulled off the glass and metal and stick it on to the metal with glue put back on. cost was only about $10.

That looks great! Can you provide some more specifics on the electric? Did you use the leds to replace the existing lights?

i had the same problem when i tried to get pics of the difference in my dash light and cluster lights after adding leds. the pics dont' turn out, but it makes a heck of a difference.

i cant remember to much on the details. but wallmart or gi joes might have it. its a neon rope light that originally plugs into you cigarette lighter.
i just cut that off and tapped into the dashlights wire.
i never toched the original bulbs didnt have to it lit up good enuff.
if i come across them again ill post the name and info.

I purchased the LEDs you listed and just installed them in my dash. Wow! What a difference. The turn signal and high beam indicators really pop - they have to be at least three times brighter. Thanks for doing the leg work. By the way, the circular connectors they list also fit the dash mounting holes.
