Thanks Paul for helping set up the windshield.

When I acquired da'40 the mounts that hold the windshield to the dash were ripped off the dash. My solution was to take the mounts and weld them to some 1/8" flat. I then cut another piece of flat and it will get placed behind the dash for reinforcement. Right now the reinforcement piece is tapped, but it looks like I'm going to need to weld a nut on the backside.

Pic #1, the problem.
Pic #2, the bits to fix the problem.
Pic #3, the bits installed, sort of.

With Paul as a witness ... it fits under the garage door with the windshield on.

:hhmm: 37's? I would need to regear.

I realized I didn't have any decent pics of the rear bumper. Open and closed.

Now that your windshield brackets are in place, you should know that from factory there is a sleeve that fits between those two brackets that the windshield knob bolt passes through. I think it helps with the rattling and tearing brackets from dashboards.

Totally off-topic trivia--my new troopy has regular knobs to fold the windscreen (and hinges) but they did not put the bumpers or latches on the hood in the later troopies, so you really can't fold it even if you take the top off.

Well, poop. SORe wants $24 for a new one and $12 for a used one.

[dialing ... 8-2-3-4-4-4-0] "Hello, Dan, can you help me out here?"

David, are they just a steel sleeve, something I can cut out of tube if I know how long they are?

Cool. I'll take that measurement, please.

Speaking of seats in the Ash Abuse thread ...

- re-install the driver seat

I need to remove the seats to lower the seat frame. I pulled the passenger seat and installed the seat cover to see how it worked. Me likie.

In the process of fitting the door for cutting I found out the seat frame on the driver's side keeps the door from closing. So I need to fix that too. One thing after another. And don't ya'all think Da'40 looks good in my driveway?

It even looks better in person:clap:

I still think I have a neighbor that objects to the project, even though it's been hidden in the garage. I think if next weekend is sunny I'll park it outside just to piss them off.
