Screw that! If you want Jon, I've got two 40,000+ lbs axles you're welcome to "showcase" if you want.

That just blows me away that someone would "object" to it. Like they care what sorts of things you do in your garage, or how much grinding and welding one does. That's nuts.

I still think I have a neighbor that objects to the project, even though it's been hidden in the garage. I think if next weekend is sunny I'll park it outside just to piss them off.

F the neighbors, do it. Unfortunately i live where there is a lot of building going on, so the city comes by quite a bit. I got cited for a flat tire on the old piggy, a spare for the tuck on the side of the house, and a wood pile at one corner. On top of that one neighbor called a few days in a row to tell me that my truck was running to long in the morning and she could not breath. Oh, I forget the call at 9:30 pm form her to tell me that I was making to much noise in my garage and she could not sleep.

Sorry, rant off. Guess I have issues.

I ran off the City ordinance last night ... just in case. I can have an "abandoned vehicle" in front of my house for 36 hours before the City can do anything. Unfortunately, in it's present condition it fits the definition because it's still partially disassembled and is missing a license plate.

Oh, I forget the call at 9:30 pm form her to tell me that I was making to much noise in my garage and she could not sleep.

There were several evenings early in the project where I was stripping paint with a grinder until late in the evening. Never had a complaint from a neighbor. I have a neighbor across the street that builds cabinets and stuff. He is frequently up early and working late, compressor and power tools running. I can't hear his activity from inside the house.

I'm hoping the weekend is nice so I can park the truck in the driveway, and run the grinder and welder all day long. Ya, that should piss off who ever it is.

I anonomously called on a neighbor who'd had a dead Bronco parked in the street in front of his house for 6 months with flat tires and giant oil slick under it on the asphalt. A day later the dead truck was parked in the driveway and the functioning truck was in the street. And within a week he'd cleaned his garage enough to put the dead truck inside it.

So encouraging ... and so right. I've been thinking about a way to alarm the thing. I have a few ideas. From the City's crime map it appears that crime is down in my 'hood. But the suspected drug dealer is still living down the street. I did notice he has been keeping a very low profile lately (I actually thought he had moved). His next-door neighbor has been keeping an eye on him. Actually, he is pretty good at keeping an eye on the whole neighborhood.

Started half doors today.

Continued on the half door this evening and welded until I couldn't see any more. I'm using 1½ inch square tube for the top.

You'd be surprised at how awesome that will look with just a very small skim coat of filler and paint. That looks AWESOME.

I figure a real wet coat of primer, sanded, will cover up the pits. I'll need to use some filler, but not much. While the steel I welded in was clean, and the outside of the door was clean, the inside of the door had a coat of just enough rust to booger my welds.

That would be NOS or "New Old Stock" parts. As the name implies they are "new" "old" parts. They most likely bought them while they were still available from Toyota and they have been rat-holed ever since. Another source would be purchasing dealers' obsolete inventories.
