Sometimes it just takes longer to do things than you would think. Today's examples.
1 - Plumb the clutch hydraulics. Take the donor master cylinder (thanks Larry) apart, clean it up, inspect it. Run a hone through it. It does have some pitting about half way down, but since the bore is clean from the top to the side port I'm going to rebuild it even though historic experience says otherwise. Kit should be $28 from Dan vs. $110 for a new one. I also ran hard line from master cylinder, over the firewall, down the passenger side to a flex line coming off the slave cylinder. Factory mount, which was on the drivers side, was drilled off and moved to rib on passenger side. I've come to the conclusion that bending brake line sucks.
2- Wire the alternator correctly. Take apart FJ62 harness. Study FJ62 wire diagram. Talk to Larry, and he describes over the phone the FJ60 diagram. I decide they are just about the same. Fuses are in different locations, and the FJ62 has another wire, but they both have the B, L, and IG terminals. Wire up FJ60 alternator to charge light relay using FJ62 harness and FJ60 connector. Turn key ... charge light comes on ... start truck ... charge light stays on [schit]. Gauge doesn't lie. Alternator no worky. Dan gets more money from me tomorrow. Reman alternator $82.33.
Why do these seeming simple tasks take so long?
