I'm still confused about this different gears for different years stuff. SOR lists one gear from '68 clear through '80. If there are different gears post up some photos.

Will try to later tonight. One has a quasi rectangular center the other with a round center and two notches for keyway keys.

Update: I'm on spring break, midterms and projects are completed, my computer crashed (I'm using my mom's for now...), so it should be interesting to see how this pans out. Luckily, I had saved the files on a USB memory stick, so this doesn't affect this project. I'm still trying to figure out the year that they switched from the little keyway inserts to the single solid shaft. I had my information on Excel but that's kind of inaccessible at the moment. I'm just glad my computer died after midterms and our projects were due. Monday I hopefully will have the toolpathing figured out, then by Wednesday have a prototype gear of both variations done. I will then begin production and shipping them out after Easter. Thanks for your patience, I'm going to try to fix my computer now. I'll keep ya updated on how they are coming.

Charles, in as much as I can tell from the photos you have made a replacement to the new updated gear so, I only shot the old style which, of course, makes sense to those owning that style and not wanting to replace the gear for the regulator. But, clearly, from the need of two keys, the update is much more elegant.

Yeah and that's one of the key's stuck in the grease at the bottom.

Thinking about this as well. When you buy the updated gear from toyota the packet includes a new regulator gear as well...most likely why they list only one gear from '68 to '80.

Ah, that would explain it, thanks Eric. I'm hoping to get all the gears made and shipped within the next 2 weeks. Once production begins, I'll contact all of you who expressed interest and confirm gear (early vs. late model) and address to ship. I'll keep you all updated, and now that spring break is over I can access the software and lab. Thankfully my files for this project were backed up when my hard drive committed suicide!

My '73 is the same style as Pablo's. They normally have a metal insert that has the double D for the drive shaft. I have a couple brand new from Toyota, as well as cruisr_guy's brass replacement.

Well I can see how this one would break. Has anyone had trouble with their gears due to the different cutout? I do have one spare regulator gear (the one that fits inside the gears I made that I used to test each gear for fitting).

Bump for availability?

I make them to order. It's cheaper in a run but I can do singles as well. I just need to know if yours is an old or new style.

When I replaced mine with the new nylon one from toyota it was different that the original, but they send the new gear attachment to make it work. I'd like the newer version in brass. Please PM me with the details. Thanks.

OK, there is a little interest in another run of these gears. This will be the NEW version of the gear (like the ones I made earlier) unless someone can send me an old one as well. I'll be posting up the price in a day or two. After that you can let me know if you're in or not. These are only made on order so if you want one you NEED to prepay.

OK, I've checked the prices to produce this gear and it's still $60 + shipping (which we'll assume at $5). PM me for payment details if you want one. We'll keep this offer open till the end of the month.

So everyone is clear, this is the new gear, as pictured at the beginning of this thread, unless someone has a copy of the old gear which they are willing to send me (cracked or broken is fine as long as there is some of the middle left over) in which case I can offer a choice.

cruiser_guy, just making sure you received my paypal payment.
Thanks.

I'll need a sample of an older one before I can make one. "cml25" has a broken older one. All I need is a sample of the center. If someone want's to send me one PM me for details.

Charles,

I'm in for another gear.

I have one of the older type and I think that it was in okay shape. It may take a day or two to get to it but I'll let you know and send it out asap.

I'll Pm you at that time to pay for the gear.
