Sounds good Steve. Let me know when you have it out and we'll figure out how to get it here unless someone else has one out earlier. One in the states would be preferable as it'll have less borders to cross (our mailing address is in Miami, FL or a US military address to a friend).

The '78 is easy. Same as the ones I've been making all along. I'll PM payment details.

As for the input shaft. I looked here in Guatemala but have not had any success yet. I'll be making a trip to Honduras or El Salvador yet before summer and I'll keep an eye out for it.

This gives you some idea of what it's like looking for parts here in Guatemala. Now take this and multiply it by 5-6 city blocks one way and 10-20 the other and you have a better idea of what it's like (yes there are a couple of 3 speed tranny/transfer cases in that pile)!!

Charles..would like one for my 69.............am afraid of taking mine out:frown:......it works smoothly but has cracks:eek::eek: inspected it when replaced the regulator rubber on the tailgate and lubricated the hell out of it..........its working but for how long:hhmm:......count me in for one maybe two if I can keep working overtime:hhmm:;

Will do!! I still do not have a sample of the old style gear so until I get one I cannot offer to have it made.

Do you need the nylon gear, or the part that hooks into the motor? I think I can find my old gear and mail it to whoever. LMK.

If your old gear looks like this, even if it's busted in half, that's what I need to be able to offer the old style as well. I'll PM you my mailing address.

Samples work better here than dimensions. You just show them what you want and they replicate it!
 
I have one extra new style gear here, like the other brass gears pictured, NOT like the plastic one in post #151. The guy made one too many. Ready to go out now. PM me for details.

I'm waiting for a sample. Once I have a sample then I can make them. Even a broken gear will work as a sample. I think Chet "cml25" is sending me one but I have not yet received it.
 
Hey There - Found Conversion Kit

Hi There I found the conversion kit to go from the circle and key notches to the rectangle. So, I am okay with the square hole in the gear if you still have it available. I found the conversion kit at CruiserParts.net Thanks for the response. Let me know if you have any extra of the new gear (with the retangle in the center).:cheers:
 
What are the chances of still being able to get one of these for a 78? Gave the part number to my local dealership they took my money and ordered it, only to call me a week later to say that they are no longer available?
