IIRC, the first batch of brass gears were ~$60 each? Not sure though.
Well you better get to making because Toyota just discontinued the part.
Glad I got one on the first run. Parts hoarding does have it's perks.

Well there is a good possibility that I'll be in Central America for a few weeks this fall (September/October) finishing up some stuff. If I am, I will see what I can do about the gears but I will need a sample of both the newer one and the older one. IF, and that's a BIG if, I get them made you will only have a small, and I mean SMALL window in which to order and pay for one. I always make just the number of pre-paid orders, I don't make any for Justin Case!
If you have an older gear with the key slots or a newer gear with the oblong shaft opening I'll need a sample of each. The sample can be broken, missing teeth, whatever, I just need a sample. PM me if you have one you can send out. No samples, no gears!!

Jim, I have NO idea what the cut off date is for the change up in the gears. I'll need you to tell me what you need. If you have the small gear that the larger one drives it should be obvious. I didn't even know of a difference until I had all the previous ones done. I have not had an old one made yet.
No samples, no gears!! Let's hope someone else might have a sample (I just checked my piggy stash and I have the motor but not the plastic gear).
I might have what you're looking for. I have a 72 tailgate stashed away plus I have the gear from my 9/73 which I think falls into the 74 and later category.

Here's a pic of the two wheels I have. Left is from a 72 and right is from a 74. The 72 was in really good shape.
Those would be EXCELLENT samples.
