On the bright side, nothing has stopped you yet. Once you get back home you will start to reminisce about your travels and troubles. It looks like you also got to spend some tone wrenching with the Turk...bonus!

I will definitely use this week to make the truck stronger. It showed some weakness but nothing that can't be fixed. Need to add a fusuable link to the alternator so it doesn't spike again. If I had a electronic engine I will may have been stranded. Big list of fixes in my head right now.

I have had that happen before. I'll bet the bulbs are blown. Mine where.

Good call. I just went out and rechecked. Blown! Easy fix now.

I was going to wait to post when I got home but I stopped to finally eat today. Wonderful McDonalds in Fort Stockton.
About 5 miles out of Pecos, TX the fuel filter cracked! I dumped a half tank of diesel driving into Pecos to get to a truck stop. I have never seen this before. Neither did the handful of Cummins drivers I asked at the truck stop. I had a spare so it was a quick fix but damn can this vacation/journey get any worse. 5 hours from home at the moment.

I've had two WIX fuel filter leak fuel before when it got cold over night. Never seen them crack before though.

Get rid of that design all together, you don't need that goofy WIF sensor or that crappy drain setup.

You can find a cross part number for a filter with just the twist screw drain instead.

This issue has me looking at alternatives to this WIF filter setup.

Anyone know a number for a filter that fits the the goofy mounting stud size that does not have the WIF sensor?

Has me questioning there oil filters now too.

im going to try to bring the filter back to Cummins and see what they say. You can always swap to the fuel bowl design like 98+ but most of them swap it for the spin on like ours. My favorite design is the IH 7.3 fuel bowl in my Ford.

I'm tempted to remove it all together and make a braket to mount my racor FWS in its place.

When I looked under the truck this morning it was the cleanest it's ever been. Amazing how well a half tank of diesel cleans.

My dad had an injector line Crack on his CR 2005 and did the same thing. It starts collecting dust. I'd degrees before it gets too thick. He lost more than a half tank getting as close to home as he could. Had to tow it the last few miles

I agree with @Wheelingnoob . Contact someone at fleetguard about this. I'd call that a catastrophic filter failure.

The filter I'm running on my 4BT doesn't have that huge mouth at the bottom, just a little drain cock.

The other thing I noticed was I failed to record your tutorial of how to climb up a hill using the starter after stalling a manual. Camara man failure on my part. The trip was worth it just to learn that technique.

No worries Johnny. You were a big help early in the week. My "knock" sound went away as I retreated back home. Maybe the higher elevation or cold fuel were causing it? I'm going to have my injectors cleaned anyway.
