Cummins 4bt into my FJ60

I did this in five steps. I made the up pipe, and secured it, I secured the muffler to the A-pilar, I drilled the hole in the body with the squares to weld to, and then I built from the muffler to the pipe through the body and built from the up pipe to the pipe through the body.

I never got the math and the angles perfect from the muffler to the body pipe and had to fab some little patches to weld into the gaps. So you may notice that section doesn't flow as smoothly. Best I could do without going postal.

Overall, I like the look though. I'll paint it black with some VHT and see how it looks.

Dont you think that's really going to be loud in the cab?

You know, I never thought of that!

Lol.

Of course it's going to be loud!!!!

Then again, I used to have a 383 stroker with flomaster 40s. We'll see which is louder.

Are you going to heat wrap that exhaust?
I would be worried about the heat effecting the windshield seal.
Looks good otherwise. All 3" tube?

Yes, all 3". I'm not worried about the winshield. Will heat wrap under the hood though.

This will be a must. I would consider wrapping the whole thing even the section outside. Exhaust wrap should be painted anyways to help seal/protect it better so it can still be painted black with the right paint.

This is the first time I've seen exhaust run like this on an FJ60 and I must admit that I'm curious how it will work out. I hope it works well because I kind of like it.

One potential downfall depends on the kind of trails you see. On some tight trails up here that exhaust would be bashed or ripped off.

Wow!

I was thinking you were nuts to run that muffler with full exhaust out the back, now I'm thinking you might be sadistic?

Lol! Just having some fun. I have another body to restore next year or the next. So, I can do whatever I want to this body (within reason) and change it on the next if things warrent change.

And, where the muffler is, it will me nothing to cut it out and install a quieter one.

For now, I want to hear my diesel.

Wyo, that exhaust is badass. When I picked up my motor, I had thoughts of doing this exact same thing :hhmm:

That makes sense then, didn't mean to criticize your work, just thought that was a hell of a brave way to do the exhaust and my experience would have me leaning towards that exhaust being the most obnoxious sounding you could possibly come up with.

The vibrations transfered through the exhaust directly into the body (even with the small flex pipe in there) are going to shake the vehicle like crazy.

Yeah Johnny! Thanks man.

If we forget the loud and shaking for a second - Once I paint it black, it will have a lot of the characteristics of a snorkel, looks wise. And everyone likes a snorkel. Mine is just pushing instead of pulling...and facing back...and hot...

The more I look at it, the more I like it.

No worries. I knew I was going to take a lot of heat for it. I always like to hear from you Rambler.

I call that vehicle assisted massage.

Indeed. If you don't like the muffler placement, you can always take it off and just put a short chunk of pipe on where it exits the fender and pretend you are a P-51 mustang!

there is a video on u tube somewhere where a guy just simply cut a hole in the hood...pouring black smoke on some mud hole runs, with a 4inch pipe siticking out of the hood.

I thought at first it was a home brewed air intake....

Yeah...you'll hear the exhaust pretty well I suspect. My v-8 is pretty loud when you get up in the RPMs. If you like it that's all that matters. You might want to plan ahead and delete your radio..

Then all I would need is a propeller!
