We have a great solid group on board, and if you miss this year, this trip may never happen again as a club excursion.

When you guys come back and show us all of the photos/videos and tell us all the stories about how great it was, those of us who didn't go will feel so deprived and depressed we will have to go next year. I'm already depressed about not going.

Sorry I missed the last meeting for any details discussed that are not listed here.

Count me in for sure. Also, the offer still stands for rallying in Fruita, CO at my in-laws if needed. We will likely make it a family event for us for a total of, maybe, eight. I will be flying into Grand Junction. I'm not sure if I'll ship my FJ-60- will decide very soon. My in-laws are working on reserving a campsite and bringing their fifth wheel camper/ATV hauler. If you are planning or need to leave a vehicle at my in-laws or need me to receive something for you, let me know. Also, if you need some local information let me know and I will ask my intelligence agents (family) on the ground. Please send me an IM to discuss.

One last thing... Emphasis is added to the earlier comment about cold snowy weather in the spring on the western slope of the Rockies and further into the Rockies. I speak from experience having relatives out there. The San Juan mountains are notorious for bad weather in the spring this includes temperatures that can drop close to zero at night. Dress in layers and be prepared, the weather can change in an instant around the mountains.

Hey, Bart being the smart guy in this group actually read the Cruise Moab web site and noticed the camping is NOT included with the registration and suggested that we need to moving on making our reservations. I think our best bet at staying together as a group would be to reserve early. Like now

My relatives out there said that camping spots are going quick. So what he said!

I'm all for reserving spots early. Waiting to see what shipping will be- I believe between $1300 and $1800 is very accurate. Was figuring initially around $1500 for a safe ride out and back for my 40. My plan is to get the 40 down into the Warrenton area for pickup and dropoff for the trip. I'm gonna fly out, whether it's to Denver or Grand Junction remains to be seen.

I know Crusha's real name, too, but ain't tellin.................. he hates the publicity.

I think round trip for $1500 would be a gift, although if fuel prices stay this low...who knows what's possible?

I'll gladly take the reins for booking the sites at Slickrock. I'll cover the costs and can be reimbursed at the campground.

@Tikicruiser how many should we reserve? They have cabins as well...

Gotta love a man of action. Jeff is out of town(Africa or something) so don't think he is going to answer. I think it's a great way to keep us all together and a very generous offer. I know Bart has two adults two kids but guess it's just one site. I would also like one site. Gary and Bob another site. One for Chris and one for Jeff. The cabins didn't look to cool to me , no bathroom no shower no kitchen. Not sure if that's everybody but hopefully they chin in. Thanks Mr. Ferrell

I haven't heard back from Gary on his preference in accommodations but I'm happy with whatever the Old Fart wants, cabin or tent site. I looked at flights yesterday and would like to get it booked soon; where and when is everyone planning to arrive and depart?

I'm good with tent camping. What good is a cabin if there is no comfort?

I do think we should move on this soon.

Done.

I just reserved fourteen single tent sites, Tent Sites | Slickrock Campground, numbers 125-133 and 157-161. These are in the lower right corner of the map diagram, and in the satellite image, they are at the very bottom center. If you cant the diagram 45 degrees to the right, you can see where they are on the image, use the rest rooms/shower square as a reference point.

These sites are a mix of sheltered, and unsheltered. I've never been to Slickrock, but thought this looked like a good area to set up.

I made the reservations for Monday May 2nd through Sunday the 8th. Cruise Moab officially starts on the 3rd.

Cost is $197.66 for the week per site. No need to talk about reimbursement until we're much closer to the event

I've started a thread on our Keystone Cruisers page as well, Cruise Moab anyone? and hopefully some of my fellow members will make this trip, it could become a co-club event, which I think would be pretty cool.

For the record, I get the best site :flipoff2:

I'm back gents. Got to drive several HZ79's in Zambia. Sounds like some solid planning has taken place in my absence. I will take one camp site. I assume with a rooftop tent, I can park a vehicle at the spot? If not it may make more sense just to pitch a regular tent and not have to deal with set up and break down daily. I made a call to my shipping contact. I will try and get a firm quote by the meeting. These contracts are usually only binding within thirty days, so we can use the quote for planning purposes. If fuel goes up which it is certainly going to do before May, there will have to be an adjustment for that. In our favor, they don't want to drive to areas like Moab from the east coast because of weather this time of year. It will be based on May weather and shipping two wagons and two forties. It doesn't matter if the vehicle list changes. We just want something firm to go on for now to see if my guy is a good deal. It also sounds like we want to pounce on registering for the event soon after it opens. If you are bringing any guests like Steve and I are, lean on them to commit, because registration will open fairly soon, and that is when the rubber meets the road, and we need a solid head count and vehicle arrival plan. Talk more at the meeting.
