I will try and make it.

After wheeling Moab I'd be willing to take some others on a trip to the san Juans in SW Colorado to do a little wheeling around the Ouray/Silverton/Telluride area. Gary S

Mid May is still winter in the high country, be prepared for snow covered backroads, some may still be impassable .

The San Juans get hammered pretty hard in the spring.

Early works for me.

That means we start beers at 6:45 at the table. Sounds like a swell idea. I can stick around to recap after the meeting anything people missed. Ain't single fatherless life great!

I've got a clogged up septic line to from the house to the street. Hope the Plummer can get here early today so I can still make it.

Let's have a post meeting sit down at Kilroys this Wednesday. I'm leaving for 2 weeks in Africa next week, so doubling up while we are all together makes better sense to get the planning moving forward. At the end of the regular meeting, let's congregate for a few minutes at one end of the table. Anyone interested in joining in for Moab is encouraged to participate, regardless of being a driver/passenger or road tripper/flyer.

sounds good...

My rig will be ready mid March, so I may actually drive it back 3rd week of march - going to colo to ski that week with family. Unsure if i can make this trip but may vs. april helps. I'll be coming to the coord meeting to "keep the dream alive" and see what #'s we get for the shippign costs, speaking of...

if shipping can be $1500 round trip for each rig that would be "a good deal" based on the quotes i got when i shipped my 80 to colorado springs. just to ball park it for those with no idea (900/1100 each way is common)

I sent out a feeler to the organizers of Cruise Moab the let them know of CLCC's impending arrival and received two responses. The first, from Dave Kaiser,

Got your phone message. A contingent at Cruise Moab from Capitol Land Cruisers would be great! Registration should open in Mid-January 2016. I’ve copied Jeff Zepp, the Cruise Moab 2016 Committee Chairman, on this email. You should be in contact with Jeff with any questions.

If your group registers soon after the registration opens, I don’t expect you’ll have any issues with you getting spots.

Happy Cruisin’

Dave
The second from Jeff Zepp,

Hi Bart.

We are excited that CLC will be coming for 2016! Please direct all inquiries to registration@cruisemoab. com (not maob LOL) We are working to get the web site changes for 2016 implemented in the next couple days and be open around the middle of the month, pending testing and debugging. Keep your eyes peeled on that web site, and on the Rising Sun forum and mud in the sanctioned events section for our announcement of when registration is open.

Thanks and happy cruisin'!

Jeff

COOL!!

Hope the discussion went well! Looking to me like if the shipping is in the $1500 range I can do it. The more I think about if I ship my truck I'm probably going to fly into Denver and get a rental car to get me over to Utah or if the rates aren't too bad might just fly into Grand Junction.
Regarding snowpack in the San Juans yes May can be iffy. I've subscribed to the Silverton newspaper for the last twenty years and this year they've already had more than 100 inches of the white stuff. Just a thought. Hell just driving down route 550 through ouray down to Silverton is a blast!

Just to recap our meeting Wednesday. Bart has taken point on reaching out to Rising Sun about our impending arrival. Well done, and they have replied favorably in a welcoming manner. Of course letting us know spots should be available if we register in a timely manner is a little high brow for my taste, and clearly the host club doesn't understand how CLCC operates! Our roster as I see it is the definites are Jeff, Bart, Steve, Chris, Gary, and Will Ferrell Crusha. Steve and I both have buddies riding along so we are at 8 minimum. On the fence are Fernando, Matt Morty, Dusty Fj and perhaps a few others. The soft maybe's are Sourbeer, Stump and quite a few others so we have a legitimate contingent. I am going to get a firm shipping quote for 4 vehicles. Two wagons and two forties just to test the water. For planning purposes , I think everyone should swallow a worst case round trip scenario cost of $1800 and a best case of about $1300. The point I'm driving at is that we should plan for the worst, and if we get a better deal, better for us and we will have some extra cash to blow on the trip. I am not going to accomplish anything til I return from vacation Jan 27th. Then we can start to plan with some real budgetary numbers. For those of you thinking about doing this gig, keep in mind that this is the year. We have a great solid group on board, and if you miss this year, this trip may never happen again as a club excursion.

I'm planning to ride shotgun with Gary but it's up to him on how we get there.
