Welp, Tonight was my last shift till possibly May 15th per the Governors mandate.
Guaranteed 32hrs this week and next, after that who knows...
I picked the perfect year to decide to buy a nice vehicle...

Welp, since its suppose to rain this week, getting some household chores done, also ordered some parts for the husbands Rav4 that I noticed it needed when I went to get gas the other day. Just going to try to keep my mind and body busy till this ends.

In Annapolis it is pretty much the same as everywhere else. Downtown where I live is full of restaurants and bars and they are hurting as you might imagine. They are still allowed to sell curbside and deliver, so several neighbors ordered a bunch of cocktails from our local watering hole the other evening--you know, to support the community. Just yesterday the governor ordered all non-essential businesses to shut down, so there is a lot of fear going around. Liquor stores are considered essential in Maryland.

Personally, family life is quite unchanged. I work from most of the time anyway, my wife doesn't work, and we homeschool our children. We just don't see my family anymore which is the real change. My parents, who are 2 miles away, are elderly. And my brother, who is two blocks away, has a 9-year-old with severe asthma so he isn't seeing anyone.

I know I'm not in PA but no one started a thread like this down in CLCC country. My wife and 4 kids (3, 6, 8, 10) and I have been holed up at our house since last Monday after I picked up my 80 from @OTRAMM 's shop. My wife hasn't wanted me to leave our house/yard since. She doesn't want my 10 yo son to take the trash can to the street or back, doesn't want to get the mail or handle packages for fear of the virus shedding off the myriad number of people in the supply chain of everything. The VA governor just cancelled public school statewide for the rest of the year like that needed to be done right now in March for some reason. So now on top of worrying about the virus she's now trying to figure out how to home school 3 kids. She's been stocking up food and TP since a few weeks ago so we're probably good for another couple three weeks but with the constant barrage of worse-case scenarios she doesn't think even that's enough. She finally deleted her FB app off her phone which is great. I swear, nothing good has ever come from that company. Thankfully, as many others in the DC suburban swamp, I work for a government contractor so I've been able to work from home supporting our clients. I can't imagine having to worry about losing my job during all this. I really feel guilty that I'm not able to help out more. My wife has been sending Amazon orders of diapers to the local family shelters but now ship estimates for those are weeks out.

Fortunately my kids have taken all this in stride. We've done a lot of work in the yard and caught up on maintenance on all our small engine equipment. I've started on a long overdue shackle and pin bushing replacement on my 40 but had to order some parts (thanks for being open Conicelli Toyota) much to my wife's shagrin . I'm guessing I won't be able to touch those parts boxes for a few days after I get them. And I'm not sure how she's going to accept me going to pick up 2 packages of bees I ordered 3 months ago on Thursday. Bad year to lose 3 out of 5 hives over winter.

But overall I'm optimistic. I just hope when we come out the other side of this what's left still resembles the America it was before this started.

Be safe out there and thank you to all you (and spouses of) first responders, doctors and especially the nurses. We know you're the real front line of our national response.

Edited to remove a slight political commentary.
Post up anytime, everyone will always be welcome here.

Governor Wolf ordered stay at home orders for seven counties, including mine, Chester.

Also extended school closures for two more weeks. I highly doubt this will be only two weeks...

Are Delaware liquor stores still open???

NY considers medical weed and liquor essential. :)

Hope you all are staying safe in PA. We are ok up here. I flew daughter down to FL a week ago so she could be with her grandparents until mid-late April.

@CatskillsRunner is working from home keeping the youth of NY taught and I am still employed as of today (could change tomorrow) and working from home.

But commercial aviation and aerospace is tanking every day and being decimated--globally. I would not be surprised if that filters down to Tier 1 suppliers (like my company) sooner rather than later. I've heard of furloughs, mandatory leave's of absence, reductions of pay as well as layoffs on the horizon within the corporate support structure for our global line maintenance stations. So, day at a time here... crossing fingers.

We are trying to stay at home as much as possible. And I am getting lots of time to work on the BJ70 completing lots of deferred maintenance. :)

And I installed a non-US base-model 100 series grille on @CatskillsRunner 100 series. :)

Hope you all are doing well and looking forward to wheeling with you guys soon!!

Be safe everyone.

I work for a medical device startup, lead design engineer. My work is 90% behind the computer, so working from home is actually working. But next week I'll be back in the office doing assembly work, our assemblers are all in the high risk group, and the last thing we want to do is get them sick. At least a couple weeks of that, which will suck, but it is better than the alternative.

My wife home schools our two kids, and we are stocked for at least a month. So she and the kids are not leaving our place. Fortunately we are in the sticks, and have a bit of ground, so it really isn't bad.

My business is dealing in vintage motorcycles and parts, primarily on ebay. I'll still be coming into the shop and shipping orders, but no employees. One man show, for the most part.

I had one of my daughters help me ship yesterday. I had 115 orders to fill. People are still buying parts for their projects, for now, at least.

International orders have slowed down drastically. I've received messages from a lot of International customers, telling me that they can no longer afford to buy anything due to the exchange rate.

I received the message below a few days ago. It really bummed me out. A lot of these long term customers are like friends, even though we've never met.

Luc is from Belgium, and has been a great customer for well over a decade. His user i.d. is lvdbvg, it's his name shortened.

My old shipping manager dubbed him "luvbug", as in Herbie the love bug, and he has remained luvbug ever since.

Hi,
sorry for asking but is it possible to cancel this purchase.
Due to this terrible virus I 'm not going to buy more parts in the coming months I think
I m more thn 60 years old. In most countries of Europe the hospitals dont want to help anymore if the patient is more than 60 years old.
I am very sorry for this inconvenience. I hope that I can buy if thsi disaster ever ends.
I wish you the very best, as I heard that the virus is in the US to.
Regards
Luc

It’s nice I suppose, that a car traveling on the road in front of our house is an event. That 422 is empty at 9:00 in the AM as we drive to a hiking trail each morning. That the Dow might have hit the bottom of its V curve. That’s all outside of our home stuff. Is it nice? Only if I look for the silver lining. A complete shutdown of our economy is disturbing to me, at best. If this continues the possibility of civil disturbances are even more disturbing. Virginia and I have a home, food, retirement income, etc etc as do most of us. If it gets really bad, we have water purifiers, and about 3 months worth of foodstuffs. Most people do not. I feel fortunate for our situation, our family, our friends, and all you guys in the TLCA.

Luckily my office job will not be affected from the looks of it since it is govt contracting.. However, I had been in talks with the bar I've been working at in DC about being an owner and buying one of the guys out while my friend bought the other out since Dec. We came to an agreement on price in Jan and I had the loan sitting in my account until the other week when the attorney finally finished the paperwork and everyone agreed. So I only made the smartest decision to buy into a bar right before things went crazy.. DC is allowing us to keep doing carry out and delivery thankfully. We are doing weekends only hoping to keep some income coming to be able to stay open and not have thrown away a hefty loan..

Also, when we got back home from a crazy 2 weeks of family emergencies my mom's boss decided to let her go because of COVID19 and they can't send people overseas. She worked for a small govt contracting company that could've easily kept her on for the time being. So household payments fall on my income from the govt job when it used to be that along with tips from bartending and mom's income. Going to be interesting...

Groceries and supplies is the best part... while things were starting to get crazy in the US we were traveling all over the US dealing with family emergencies. Don't see how the stores are still out of TP, who is buying it all?!

The numbers in our county doubled over the last two days. It's scary in NY. All the City people are here now in their weekend homes, so this will get worse before it gets better.

I'm tired of this and want to get back to school. I'm grading papers online and talking to some kids over Google Classroom...

I have an absolutely spectacular group of seniors this year in my college-level class. Their senior trip was already cancelled, and I'm betting the rest of the year is going to go to remote learning. At least we live in a beautiful place where I can walk and run, and I have a puppy to exercise daily. And I have lots of booze, chocolate, and kale, which keeps Onur safe.

Don't know, but I will venture out in a bit and see, there is on near the entrance of my neighborhood on the other side of the highway.

Liquor stores still open! But my next venture out will be to the pharmacy for some allergy medication. 30 min outside results in pounding sinus headache -_-

Well yesterday was my last day at work for a few days. I'm on vacation till next week cause we were going to wheel this Fri, Sat, Sunday and was gonna push to finish my 40buggy. After having only 2 cars yesterday I'm actually glad to be away for a bit.

Took my dog out for 4 miles yesterday. I have NEVER seen so many people there. I'm amazed how many people are suddenly finding nature. Maybe something good is actually coming from this whole thing after all.
