Folks:

Just a quick reminder that I will be out of the office starting tomorrow morning and I will be back in the office Monday.

If you are planning on going to the Valley Hybrids Garage Sale in Stockton, CA on Saturday, I look forward to seeing/meeting you there.

All emails/PM's will be responded to on Monday.

Thanks much.

Have a good trip, sounds like fun. Did you get that book from Georg?

Started my list today, hopefully I can place an order next week. I've got a 97 fzj80 that wasn't maintained too well by the previous owner, luckily he only had it about 9 months. Lots of little things I need to replace and all the normal leaks I mostly need to fix. Some may not be worth the trouble from what I've seen.

Sure sir. Feel free to contact me when you want.

Folks:

Just got back in the office this morning after an awesome time being delayed for hours and then being transferred between airlines and the like coming back from California.

Catching up with my backlog of emails and PMs.

Thanks for your patience.

Onur is awesome, I always get my OEM parts from him! extremely knowledgeable AND you get a discount! Thanks Onur!

by the way, can you suggest someone to do a 3FE conversion for a '82 j60 in the southern California area? Most of the cruiser specialist are not around anymore. Thanks!

ok thanks Onur!

Hi folks: Just a quick reminder that I am a one man operation.

I get lots of folks who reference me as "you guys" and I chuckle a bit. I am the only one doing everything.

So I appreciate your patience. With @cruiserdan moving to his new location, my volume of contact has grown exponentially.

I appreciate any understanding you can provide.

I know it is tempting in today's Amazon and Wal-Mart world to transpose that business model on every consumer transaction; I understand this compelling structure.

I implore you to research other options if waiting 24-48 hrs is not acceptable to your way of doing business. I understand and I don't blame you.

Sometimes you need something right then and there.

I can assist as I can and point you in the right direction but please do not take that as me being rude or not providing "customer service."

In fact, I am showing you the way to what you want. You will be thankful of my suggestions after the fact.

:)

Thanks much.... I really do appreciate so much what I do with Toyota Land Cruisers and their owners.

This is what happens in ATL when I decide to hang with @Sam Stewart

Damn! One of these days I'll have to get you to stop by the house for dinner. I'll whoop you up some catfish head soup, but I'll be damned if I'll eat it. One of my grandmother's old recipes from south Mississippi. I live a little north of I-20.

Hi Folks:

I have received a number of complaints recently about the time that it is now taking to get OEM parts from Toyota for your Land Cruisers.

As such, I've thought it prudent to respond with some important information to consider:

1. The newest 40 series is now 32 years old.
2. The newest 60 series is now 29 years old.
3. The newest 62 series is now 26 years old.
4. The newest 80 series is now 19 years old.
5. The newest 100 series is now 9 years old.

You can see pretty clearly that all of these trucks are getting long in the tooth as the saying goes.

Considering that Land Cruisers were already reasonably small volume production (compared to say Camry's or Corollas), the notion that the little widget that is needed for your truck, or the random bolt on a hinge is readily available by the thousands just waiting to be bought is an erroneous way to think about parts procurement for these vehicles through Toyota.

Many of these parts are NOT available in the US and thus it becomes a waiting game for the parts order to go from me, to Toyota, through the Toyota system, out to the different possible depots for fulfillment, and if not in the US, then refers to TMC in Japan for fulfillment.

All of this takes TIME. Sometimes a lot of time. I recently had an order for a radiator hose for a BJ42: the part is live in the US and available. It took almost a month to get that parts mainly because it had to navigate through the Toyota procurement/fulfillment system and then to Japan and then back to me.

If you are ordering reasonably normal items, then the way is usually just a couple of days.

If you are ordering diesel parts for a non-US truck that was last manufactured in 1984, my recommendation is to sit back and relax. Procuring said part is going to take awhile.

This is just the way it is. I cannot do anything about it. Nor can Toyota in the US. As much as I want to see you get your parts ASAP, it just isn't the case sometimes.

I ask for your patience and I appreciate it when we are dealing with these old trucks and parts for them. The fact that we can still get an entire engine gasket kit for a B engine is revelatory in my mind.... It did take 3 weeks to get it. But I got it (just as an example).

Also, if you need one or two of the parts that you order faster than say other parts in your order, please let me know.

Thanks much and best regards.

It's like being on the "heart transplant" list ..... To wait can be excruciating but the other options are generally worse.
