what?! when i called, they said i didn't need a reservation for a tent site. i even mentioned the group name. i guess i'll have to call again. did you talk to a guy or a gal? i talked to a guy, maybe he is clueless.

Yes, the man who answers is clueless. He had no idea that the group was coming. He always gets the days mixed up and the month wrong so you end up going over it about 5 times. He did the same thing when I went in May.

With the dogs they will put you near the dog area up front. Maybe that's why you needed a reservation...

Don't know about the reservation.

Do any of the trails we are planning to run not allow dogs? I think the National Park areas do not.

I also just ordered my Charles Wells - Moab book.

Correct, no dogs in National Parks.

Specifically, no dogs are allowed on the Elephant Hill trail that leads to the Devil's Kitchen campsites where we have 2 sites (3 vehicles per site) reserved for this trip.

The other trails that we plan to run on this trip are on BLM land so dogs are OK. Dogs are OK at the KOA but those bringing dogs will be located in another part of the campground.

We need a vehicle count of those planning to camp at Devil's Kitchen on Thursday night.

Aye, permit for campsite numero uno. I will be there Thursday and Friday nights, and at the KOA Saturday and Sunday nights ... as soon as I make my reservation. :grinpimp:

so far as i know, we have 2 sites at Devil's Kitchen reserved. Jon has 1, I have the other. that will fit 6 vehicles and 20 people total. so Williams' will be at DK. 4 of us.

also, an itinerary has been set.
Thursday, 1 group to E. Hill and DK. second group to KOA. KOA group may run a short run that day probably Hell's Revenge for time purposes (can be done in a few hours).

Friday- DK group goes to Moab and meets at KOA. whole group runs Fin N' Things in the afternoon. probably early afternoon. 2-3pm hopefully at latest, but depends on when everyone gets in. some more will be driving from Abq into KOA this day. (hopefully in time for Fins N Things)

Sat- Behind the Rocks(modified rigs) and Tip Toe Behind the Rocks(stock rigs). Graham is gathering more info for Tip Toe from local clubs.

Sun-(a spit)-Chicken Corners(for stock rigs) led by Vince. Golden Spike (for modified rigs).

Monday- most are leaving in am. some staying to run Hell's Revenge or other short run before leaving. Williams' may stay 'till Tuesday (any others staying the extra day?)

Hey all,

So I contacted an 80 member of Wasatch Cruisers and here is the reply;

"Graham,

I'm unfamiliar with the trail, but some guys on the Wasatch Cruisers forum provided these links:

Have fun.

Ryan"

So, Basically the same I found when using Google. I think we'll figure it out as we go. If you guys would like I can try some of the heep forums.

Another one bites the dust!

Between problems with my 60 not running correctly (and no resolution yet) and limited vacation days, I'm going to have to bow out. My grandfather that lives in Texas is not well and I need to use my vacation days to go see him. Moab isn't going anywhere but he is. Maybe I can make it next year.

I am still in but Connie and Ross are out. It is beginning to look like I will leave early on Thursday morning and return Sunday night after the trails.

.... or leave early on Monday morning (no wheeling on Monday though.)

"Firemedicpq1" -- Sorry guys, I have to back out as well. Found out I am being sent out of town for work this weekend, and something came up for next. I do want to make it to Moab and hope to go with some experienced wheelers. Maybe next time. Have a great trip!

Paul

We (Ellen and I) are planning to head up Thursday afternoon. We'll probably leave around 1:30 - 2:00 from the East Mountains, and we'll head west on I-40 to Gallup and then north up through Shiprock. That worked out well for us last time.

We'll be ready to wheel first thing Friday morning from the KOA. Planning to wheel Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and head back Monday morning.

Evan

I'm leaving exceptionally early Thursday, going over EHill same day. Camping Devil's Kitchen Thursday and Friday nights, coming out Saturday hopefully in time to meet up for Behind the Rocks. KOA Saturday and Sunday nights. Going to the other side of the rivers Monday - Thursday. I'll be traveling to Moab the same route as Evan and Ellen.
