Color help... got the blues... (1 Viewer)

Howdy all - happy new year!

I know color has been gone over a billion times, but hopefully this question is a bit more specific...

I am strongly considering a Nordic Blue paint job, but have a question first. I know I have seen a very dark, almost midnight blue on a few 40's (top photo), and I want to make sure that the Nordic color is not that.

From what I have seen in photos, Nordic looks just a bit brighter and darker than the traditional Sky blue from the mid 70's.

Since monitors and digital cameras all show a different colors - does anyone know if these photos I put together represent 3 different paint codes (sky, nordic, and a darker blue)? I have reviewed all the color threads and have not seen this darker blue.

Top and the bottom truck are likely the same color, just poor camera equipment/lighting in the top pic.

One more time...

Top and the bottom truck are likely the same color, just poor camera equipment/lighting in the top pic.

I would say again, that the bottom picture is a more accurate representation of the Nordic Blue color. There are other Nordic Blue truck pictures in the FAQ, along with the other color thread in the FAQ, and it seems as though the bottom picture is closer to that color than the top.

I appreciate the response and all along I have had the same thoughts after my extensive research in the FAQ's (believe it or not) and collection of many thought-to-be Nordic Blue 40 photos from around the web.

it is just a bit reassuring to hear some commentary before spending the hard earned cash repaintng my entire rig.

thats what these forums are for, no?

My personal choice would be the sky blue. I think it's such an original color and badass looking when fresh. I'll be doing a fresh repaint soon on mine. Here are some of my inspirations to re-do the sky blue.

Yeah, that is a choice color. My family owned a '77 sky blue when I was a kid... what a beauty.

The only reason I am going with Nordic is because it was offered in '82, and I want to keep true to the year.

I hope to own an original sky blue one someday too...

I've had a bunch of the sky blue ones...find it kinda wimpy. Only thing worse is the 74 "baby" blue, imo. I love the Nordic...only came one or two years, quite rare actually.
