So Mike and I just LIMPED back into Albuquerque after a mud soak at Ojo Caliente on the way. Fought over heating as we got down into the 95 degree high desert. Power steering not working. Alternator only putting out 11.5 amps so battery was weaker each time we started (had my battery backup that saved us) on the side of the road).

Scariest part was 1 mile from our pull off of I25 and 3 miles from home, my rear drive shaft shook loose! Wild, big, vibrations all the sudden. Got under there and it was hanging on by 1 loose bolt! Yikes! I noticed a slight vibration at higher speed down from Santa Fe but didn't think much of it. In hindsight, shoulda looked under there asap! Luckily the heat kept us at a slow pace. Drive shaft bolts must have shook loose from all that banging around yesterday I suppose.

Took the rear shaft off, went into 4H and limped the final 3 miles (after she stopped the steam blow out toe overflow tube. What a day!!!!! What a trip!
Almost as intense as last night's Pig Roast 22! Thanks Kay. #OOOOHHHH-KAAAYYYYY!!! Haven't heard anyone called a buttfu$% in a few years, but I do get called an a$$ho!# on the regular, so I got that going for me!

Thanks to so many of you for all the effort! Never would have made it there without you. Amazing to put faces and names to the screen names. Amazing to see so many pigs in one place too. Great to get to know ALMOST everybody there ...OOOOHHHH KAAAYYYY.....too soon? Never!
Got some pics I'll get up later. Safe travels everyone and thanks again to all! #blueleader

It was good meeting you guys! Felt bad for the bs you guys put up with Friday night - no call, reason, rhyme for any of it. Very antithetical to what the Pig Party is, which is FAMILY FRIENDLY!!! Hope that isolated incident doesn’t give you hesitation for joining up again in the future.

Great pics so far. Here's a few of the "honorary Pigs" at the party, courtesy of @RUSH55, @Hank Tank and our intrepid trail leader @4Cruisers. Follows the tradition started by Ige @nuclearlemon at our first western Pig Party in Rico.

Lol! best I can figure is I brought a "buttfuc*" co-pilot who was mistaken for an enemy of the Pima Indians, and sat next to the wrong person at the campfire 🤷‍♂️ aka stepped in a big pile of cow dung, to go along with the dog poop I actually stepped in at the gas station that morning! Story of my life

now just so we understand each other and nobody else's feelings get hurt, no hard feelings Kay, or John. Thanks for the fantastic trail leading

Oohhh this Story needs to be Heard 🤔😉👍🤣

Just a fun action shot of dinner.

We were all disappointed not to see @landcruisnman Pat's epic Pig build. Seems transmission problems just before a Pig Party are endemic to the San Diego area. But he was resourceful, having Plan B, the "Cheeto Bandito." Despite a Sniper attack, the broken clutch hydraulic line and finally a drive train issue that left him running on only one axle, Pat and the Bandito soldiered on. So well I awarded him "Driver of the Weekend." Here are some pics of 2WD Pat and of the brain trust offering helpful advice...

It ain't over! We're up in Silverton, CO. and my transfer case was stuck in low coming down into Silverton from the Alpine Loop. Craig, Gordon and I are spending the night after one of the best days I've had. Craig figured a work around and got us going, pictures to come later. I'm drinking some beer thanks to Rush I've a case of Bud in the cooler. Talk at you tomorrow.

See Craig's line in the next post, though your build may be just beyond aboriginal tech savvy.

Great trip! Thanks again to John @4Cruisers for excellent trail finding!
John's expertise and knowledge of the area made the whole weekend work. Not just the trail leading but also his commentary on the sights. Thanks also to you for your help planning. Turned out to be a hell of a Pig Party considering the fact we didn't know our actual destination until about ten days before arrival, the forest was closed until a few weeks ago and picking the spot was just a stab in the maps and You Tube dark! Nice to once again be base-camped and to see the potluck resurrected. I'm missing the tamales and the pies from Julian.
