I'm not big on planning stuff and just sorta pack the rig and head out when I feel like it, but, if you want to add me to the non pig owners backup list I'd be obliged.
Bummer. I'm real sorry to hear this. I'd say rebuild your 2F.
But, here's another idea to get you there. Find a running 2F, spend a weekend between now and the PP to swap in the running 2F. Go to the PP and run this donor 2F while your's is getting rebuilt, which could take some time. Swap engines when your 2F is ready and sell the donor for probably what you'd have in it.
Iām with Mikeā¦if you wanted something for the time being Iām sure someone here knows of a running 2F theyād put you on to get you to PP ā22. And after you get your original 2F rebuilt you could resell the temp engine for what you have in it.

Thank you for the good suggestion. I would like to do that but logistically, I'm short on time, garage space and I imagine the extra costs of installing a temporary engine and then re-installing the re-built motor. I've found a local shop that that has a good reputation and experience with 2F motors, but unfortunately it's a 6 month process given the existing queue. I suspect we'll be zip tying a pig grill to my daily driver.
Medium size leak on rear driver side tire/wheel inside. Thought it was brake fluid. Ended up being the axle after pulling the tire. Pulled everything apart and sure enough needed an axle bearing and seal. Ordered a kit from Cruiser Outfitters which arrived next day and now all good againā¦both sides done. Makes me think I should really do a front knuckle rebuild too. Who knows if it has ever been done on this truck. Guess I have about six or so weeks before the PP.
Well, had to pull the plug on PP 2022. Sucks bc the pig is 95% ready to go - drove her last night for over 30 minutes and she did great. Just mopping up a few loose ends now. I have a spreadsheet of estimates on gas, food, and hotel expenses to take the family to NM for the PP and to visit family and have been watching the cost continually rise. The cost is now well over half of what I paid for the pig - for just a bit over a 1 week adventure. Canāt justify that.
Iām bummed bc I was really looking forward to hanging out and wheeling with my fellow pig buddies. Sorry guys.
Sorry to hear, but that's going to be reality for a lot people this year. There will always be another year to hang out and beside imagine what shape the wagon will in next year.
We won't talk about you while sitting around the propane bonfire.
PP2022 Shakedown Cruise II to the Outdoor Expo in Flagstaff. Everything from Rivians with rooftop tents to funky old Cruiser conversions. Some really cool 70 series stuff. About every supplier imaginable also. Headed to Phoenix area tomorrow to visit old friends but the real purpose is to reinforce the need for a/c. Photographer from Outside Magazine took pics of the Pig.
Seems we have a problem. Newly discovered. Not just fire restrictions. The entire Carson National Forest in NM is closed to public access until July 18. Obviously that includes our PP2022 dates.
Ideas?
