Well - after much thought I've decided to sell our off-road trailer. I'll let the photos do the talking...as it has had an awesome life with us, and it's just time to go to a new owner. I'm not going to have time to play with it this summer with my work situation...and we need the cash to pay more important bills with a growing business.

It started out as an ATV trailer - bought from another guy on 'Mud in NY. It came with a fully-sealed aluminum body - with a hinge lid and LED lights - however it was built for hauling behind an ATV - super low to the ground.

I had to build a 2" square tube frame for it, as it wasn't heavy enough for my intended use- and we used some FJ40 springs in lieu of the ATV torsion suspension setup.

I took the spindles off of an FJ40 front axle - and used them for the axle ends...which were welded onto a 2x2 .25" square tube

Custom U-Bolts and top plates mount it to the FJ40 springs. There are a set of FJ40 hubs on it...so if you ever need a spare hub, just pull 'em off the trailer - kind of a fun feature :)

I'm currently running a set of factory Tacoma rims....and a 31" tire (if I remember size on 'em). They're about 50% tread. There is room for a spare to be mounted either under it, or on the tail - but I never got around to fabbing it up. I do have an extra rim for a spare if you want it.

The trailer does not have brakes...but you could easily add a set of drums or discs brake flanges from another FJ40 - and use a surge-brake setup if you so desired. It wouldn't convert well to an electrical brake setup....but towing it behind my FJ40 and FJ80 I didn't feel the need for brakes on it anyways - as it's not that heavy, even fully loaded I can easily move it around the garage.

You'll probably need to apply for a VIN# and a self-built title for it - as it does not have a VIN #. Depending on your state, you may need to get a VIN, but we just used it off-roading. If this is an issue for the new owner, I can apply for a Colorado homebuilt trailer title and get a VIN assigned - we'll have to discuss that.

It does currently have a nice sized Roof-Top-Tent on it. There is a platform on top that extends vertically and locks in place to raise the tent up to gain access to the storage compartment. It has gas-shocks to assist in lifting the tent platform.

It is fitted with a 5# propane tank bottle attached to the rear - and room for a 5G jerry can for fuel or water on the tongue.

It is large enough to carry enough camping gear for about 3 weeks if you're going on an expedition - seriously, I'm not kidding and I pack heavy :) We took it for 2 weeks up into western Colorado and didn't have a need we couldn't fit into the trailer.

Since the tub and tongue-storage boxes are 100% aluminum...it's crazy light - and the steel frame on the bottom helps keep the center of gravity low.

It even has a removable and length-adjustable tongue! I have a Pintle hook equipped tongue, and a 2" ball hitch tongue. You can use the Pintle hook tongue, or the 2" ball tongue for it depending on whether your truck has a pintle hook or ball hitch - and super easy to swap it out!

I also have a very nice propane powered hot-water shower set-up...and a ton of other camping gear that could be negotiated for sale with the unit...but we'll have to see.

It has been so great to take it off-roading and camping -and it'll be missed a lot this summer. I just can't afford to keep it in covered storage...especially when I'm not going to be around to enjoy it.

I'm attaching photos of the build-up and the final product and a few camping trips with it!

Located in Denver, CO Shipping it is even a possibility - depending on where you're located as I own a trucking company....and as always, MudShip is great too!

Asking price is $2200 for it as it sits with the RTT. If you don't need the RTT, then take off $800 for it as it's used, but complete.

PM me or email me please.

Few more pics of the trailer :)

The frame is painted black with Herculiner....a great heavy abrasion and grippy paint....just like Rhino or Line-X. The nice thing with Herculiner is you can touch it up super easy....and off roading this trailer is gonna get some scuffs and scratches. - It looks really sharp!

Finished trailer and some camping shots!

I've since changed the wheels out to the newer Tacoma -3 spoke aluminum wheel. I'll snap some pics and post 'em up when I can.

The RTT is easily removable - and when we didn't need it, we just took it off and used it for bike racks and a place to put the coolers and such.

Wow, well done!!! Killer trailer, GLWS!!!

That is sweet. Why don't you take a trip out to CA and than leave it with me. Very fair price I think.

does it have shock absorbers?

I've contemplated a pair of shocks for it...I think in my next trailer build I'll have to integrate 'em.

This one doesn't have them...but there is room to add 'em.

I found you can't really off-road very quickly with a trailer....it slows you down tremendously in the boulders and rocks - so it's not really taking a beating as you're going stupid-slow to keep it from rocking the boat :)

Hey everyone, thanks for the compliments and replies.

Trailer is tenatively sold to bmpytrk.

Just waitin on the dough and it'll be on it's way...it's gonna go play in Idaho from now on :)
