nice build! love the collection, 3bs are great motors any plans for a turbo?

So those holes on the head by the exhaust manifold i think theres some teeny frost plugs that go in there.

oh make sure you get the injector line holders I've seen a line break because of this and then its like running on 3 cyls and gets really gutless

I'm looking for some, this looks like the part number for the injection pipe clamp

Got the power steering tensioning pulley installed as well as the alternator/vacuum pump. I need to source some new vacuum pump lines...add them to the list.

I hope to get it hanging in the engine bay this weekend.

Had to help a friend move on Saturday, so I only had Sunday to work on this.

The H55 came from a 60-series and the support doesn't sit flush on the frame brackets. After looking for a new/used bracket for a while. I've decided to just notch this one to get it to sit flat, then drill some new holes.

Thought I'd try and marry up the trans and engine next, then hoist them in and figure out where the engine mounts need to go. I also need to cut the 2F engine mounts out.

I'm missing more hardware. Specifically, all the flywheel bolts, and the bolts holding the bell housing to the block as well as the starter mounting hardware.

After searching through cans of bolts and using my thread gage, micrometer and going to the hardware store...the day was gone. I'm going to go to a specialty bolt house today.

I learned this lesson the hard way 750 miles from home. I was running only one set. It needs both. I think they are placed in a location to absorb vibration harmonics.

I wouldn't run it for very long without those dampener clamps in place.

Looking for them. They're discontinued from Toyota. I have one (half of one set) , worse comes to worst I'll have to fabricate one out of some hard rubber product.

Pretty slow going on the Chileno. Managed to clean up the area in front of my shack of a garage and rotate the vehicle 90 degrees, so I didn’t have to block the alley rigging the thing in and out.

I modified the transmission cross member and got it hanging in the engine bay. I ran out of mig wire, and didn’t have enough time to do much more than snap a few photos.

It looks a bit close to the heater-hose firewall penetration. If I moved the whole unit forward 1.5-2.0 inches the shifters would line up with the factory opening better (I’d need to move both trans and engine mounts) . I need to set the radiator/shroud assembly in to ensure no interference there. I haven’t looked at a chassis manual very closely yet either, I don’t even know if my manuals show this combination of engine/tranny mount locations either.

Looks like I need to move the transmission support forward. I found an image with BJ engine mount locations relative to the radiator supports. The way it sits now, I'm about 2-inches too far back.

Good news is, moving the trans forward will allow the hump cover holes to line up better.

Got the flywheel bolts thanks again to Grover-gerg. He threw in the injection line dampener-brackets as well.

I was thinking I could leave the 2F engine mounts in and just add the BJ60 mounts that came with this engine, but I think I need to cut off the 2F mounts.

Noticed the passenger side radiator support mount is tweaked, bent down, while measuring off of it for the engine mount. I'll try and straighten it out with some heat and a hydraulic jack before I try putting the engine in again.

I tried to place the engine using the values from the manual (above), it ended up too close to the firewall. I moved it forward to where the transmission shift hole won't need to be cut, clearance for the heater hose, and not too close to the radiator. I had to trim some (about 1/2") off the radiator shroud so the power steering pulley would clear.

Pulled the engine out and welded the engine mounts last night. I need to get the transmission mounted next. Should only have to pull the engine in and out a few more times...

Flew the engine back in Monday evening. It’s sitting on the ‘new’ mounts and the transmission is hanging from the crane. I ordered a couple feet of 6” X 3.5” X 5/16” steel angle for the transmission mounts. Should be here tomorrow. I’ll drill holes that match the frame and bolt it up this weekend.

Thanks...needed that. Only progress, got the radiator and shroud in a few weeks ago. I plan to order new belts and hoses today. I have all the steering parts laid out, just need to dive in and get going on that. I've been mtn. biking too much again. Doing my 100-miler in 3 weeks.

So I ordered some parts from Toyota (Atlanta) belts, rad hoses, OEM hose clamps etc. They had to 'come from the Japan warehouse' I recieved them middle of last week. The same day (the 16th of May) I placed an order for the balance of parts that Toyota didn't have (lower rad. hose, heater hose, water bypass hose) from Cruiserparts.net. I have yet to see them...two emails have gone un-answered. I want to get all the hoses in before I start fabricating steering to ensure I've got enough clearance for everything.

Hopefully the parts will be at my house when I get home today (8 business days since my card was billed) and I can make some progress this weekend.

I'm done 'training' for my 100-miler, so no big rides planned for the weekend. Just have to suffer through the event next Saturday.

Wrestled the belts on last night…holy cow the alternator belt was a PIA to get on. It’s OEM, but I think it needs to be about an inch longer. I’m afraid it’s too tight and will torque the water pump shaft/seal. Do they stretch at all after running a bit?
Still waiting on the parts from Cruiserparts…I never received any acknowledgement to my two emails, called them yesterday and was told ‘…there was a glitch in their on-line ordering system…’ A glitch that allowed them to bill me for parts and shipping, but not actually ship the parts.
They were supposed to be in the mail yesterday.

Finally back at this. First Saturday in 6 weeks that I wasn't on my bike for 4-6 hours. The 100-miler was a success. 34 started, 7 completed it, I managed to do it in under 12-hour ride-time, about 13-hour elapsed time. 102 miles, 17,500 vert.

After a few weeks of waiting, I finally received the hoses I ordered from Cruiserparts. Still had to visit NAPA, I was missing a section of piping on the lower hose portion. Was able to find a coolant heater that fit nicely and joined the two lower hoses.

I removed the extra coolant pipe and plugged the hole on the thermostat housing with a 1/2" NPT brass plug. So all of the heater piping is hooked up as well.

Got a start on the steering yesteday. Spent some time taking apart the corroded relay rod assembly off the 62 donor. Will need to section and shorten it. Positioned the steering box, marked out the mounting plate. I got rid of my drill press, so I need to take the plate over to a friends today and drill out the holes, then tap.

Have to pull the steering column and cut the rag joint off. I have a couple u-joints for 3/4" shafts and the splined u-joint from a 60 for the bax end.

I don't think I'll use the Ford Shock towers as the position of the axle/lower shock mount would put the Ford tower right where the fender mounts. I'll need to source some hoop-style shock mounts or get some made locally.
