That's a funny look'n paper hat you have there Keith :D

The past 15-years or so I've gotten a little smarter about hearing, eye and lung protection; must have something to do with getting older than I thought I would :). All three go on anytime the grinder gets used as well as any wood working project, extended welding, etc. Amazing how much crud those filters grab when using the angle grinder...outdoors even!

Yeah.. the last round was enough to make me pause on the inhalation of the rust particles. Coughing for 2 days afterwards wasnt fun.
I dont like LOUD things anymore...music is okay if I dont have to pay that close attention, but aside from that...Im getting old too!

SOA rear is DONE!
Looks SOOOOO GOOOD!!!!
Im definitely gonna have to do a full on comp cut on the rear quarter. Not too upset about that actually.

Have to take a break on the 40 for the next week or two.
Daughters 4 runner blew a head gasket, so Ill be into a 3.0 V6 for a while. As much as I love doing this stuff....Its when the rig HAS to be DONE ASAP is when it WORK!!!!
Ah well.

Seeing it like that makes me think its ALMOST done!
To bad....ITS NOT!:crybaby:

Looking nice Keith.

Thanks Camomog...
Who are you in Reno, NV!?!?!
I saw a nice Mog cruising around the Damonte ranch area...was that you?

Keith looks really shiny and clean. It will end up being too nice to wheel!!!

Nick

NOPE! It'll look shiny and clean for about a minute.

Its driving me nuts to be sitting out this whole year without a rig. I cant wait to go again.

If I'd a known I was gonna live this long I woulda taken better care of myself.

My Dad said.

Kinda like my Grandpa said....

"This getting old thing isnt for WIMPS. Youve gotta be TOUGH to get old with all the aches and pains that come with it."

Its true though. After I spent 2 days coughing up crap it dawned on me that probably WASNT a good thing....Then I read something about lead contamination from particulate rust and all the crap associated with that...One in particular....brain damage, which I could NOT afford ANY MORE of that.:D

I have heard the dealer will do it for free and kick in a new short block if it's never been done before. Check it out.

LOL...tried that actually!
They ran the vin and it was already done in 00'. I was trying to avoid this job like NO MAN! However, its good that I did it this way.
The timing belt was going, the rest of the belts were shot, the injectors were TOAST...Im glad that its happening on my time and not theirs. The shop time that is.

thanks for the tip though.
I REALLY WISH that would have worked out that way.

chicago the more I read and watch your thread the more I keep thinking the unimaginable of selling the 60 and going this route. Only problem is the wife keeps saying no!

This is looking fantanstic! Keep it up.

Thanks brother!
Me selling the Blotch rig was a really HARD decision that I didnt take lightly!
However, I think this will be a GREAT set up for what I like to do and yet not be a TOTALLY DEDICATED type of rig. Itll end up being a BIT shorter WB (about 6 or 7 in from what I figure as compared to the 62) and have the same width as my 62. Lighter, more hwy power and DEEP ASS gears for the crawling!:grinpimp:

The wife situation you have....that is a tough one for sure!
My wife has been an absolute angel re. this build. Youve just gotta figure the best way to pitch it!:D
For me...I threatened to do a back half on the 62 with a flat bed type thing with the main goal to shave a bunch of weight, get rid of that BIG ASS that hangs off and still have plenty of cargo area...she said..." You WILL NOT have some red neck looking thing like that sitting in front of our house....ETC! I said..."yes dear"
"how about a 40!?!?!?!":D She actually LIKED the idea.:bounce::bounce2:

Although....I Cant wait to get wheeling again.:steer:

Thanks for posting up!

Great play with your wife:D

I have a similar home situation (yes dear).
Told her the second 40 was for parts and not to keep.
After starting on the first one and putting my blood swet and tears in to it she told me, after some manipulation, it would be a waste to take this one out wheeling. "why don't you keep the other one to take on the rough trips", honey that is a great idea I never thout of that:grinpimp:.

Exept I have to find the time and money to prepare 2 rig's.

Your wife is a saint :D

Christ...
One is taking ALL ive got for time, finances and patience.
However, I was actually serious about the back half on the blotch rig (FJ62). Had it all figured, the drive train that I now have in the 40 was gonna be in it...I showed her some pics of what I wanted to do....KYBOSH!!!! No way was she having any of it. Goes back to the old statement...."If the WIFE'S not happy..." You all know the rest.:D
In their defense...they DO actually put up with a TON from us being in this ADDICTION!
Im appreciative that she doesnt put up a stink about it like some guyz get. She is really supportive cuz she knows how much I love this stuff and how happy it makes me.

Sounds as if youre wife is the same.
