Chainsaw Mount?

Ideally you'd want it outside of the car. Smell and oil leak would not be something pleasant to deal with on a long trip.
My 20" Poulan Pro I use as a trail saw has a case just like the above husqvarna PowerBox, except the case that came with my saw is black...only difference as far as I can tell. It sits in the back atop my drawer set 9 months out of the year and doesn't bother me...then again it does me a solid by covering up the original wet dog stank the cruiser had when I got it. Doesn't leak outside the box as long as you don't fill the bar oil after use. It does leak inside the box but I throw a Eugene weekly (free local liberal hippie drug addict paper) in the bottom to absorb any oil that gets out.

All problems solved with an electric saw! Totally getting one and keeping it inside of the rig. Stilhl and husqy are both making numerous products so we don’t even have to get in to a brand debate..I would have never in a million years thought electric could run halfway decent compared to the good ole two stroke but it’s true.. resume: 30 plus years running saws from MD to OR amd places in between

As an aside cut and harvest as much dead and down as you want on the national forest..don’t cut anything green (not good for burning anyway), don’t leave with a load, and don’t run power tools in the wilderness..it’s much better to use wood in the area of your camp vs. bringing wood from somewhere else so as not to introduce disease or insects anyway
There’s something very unmanly about an electric saw, but you have a good point here. I might have to look into an electric.

My buddy has one of these that I’ve used. It’s fantastic. The thing I like about it is that you wouldn’t need to carry fuel for it if you have an inverted.

DEWALT DCCS670X1 FLEXVOLT 60V MAX Brushless Chainsaw, 3.0AH battery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NBVCQ4W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vulcAbPSZA9E5

Personally, I’m buying the Makita 36v because everything I have is Makita. It uses two 18v batteries and makes more sense with my other Makita tools.

Makita XCU02PTX1 18V X2 (36V) LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 12" Chain Saw Kit and Brushless Angle Grinder (5.0 Ah) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHHKBXS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WAlcAbC6NSMAB

I used to lug my stihl farm boss with me but it’s a pain in the butt messy (I think it is 23 years old or so). It still runs like a top.

To hell with that, I like a gas powered saw, never ran a girly electric saw, we have big trees here and it may not cut them
I can attest to that. There is a reason Oregon is a brand of Chain saw and accessories....I've been on narrow trails on cliff sides where we had to cut trees out of the way, the 20" bar wasn't sufficient for a few of them and the tree had to be cut from both the near and far side to get it out of the way.

I’ve been eye balling the Dewalt lately. I like my Stihl but electric has come a long way. Already switched to electric weed eater and it’s so nice. Wish Dewalt had theirs out at that time since I run all Dewalt tools and would be able to share batteries.

I have a fairly old (30yrs) electric Stihl & it never once has hiccuped.

Dad bought it when I was 9-10yrs old to cut firewood in Summer schoolbreaks, fabbed gas / hydraulic logsplitter so I could do 1/2 cord or so a day from 8" alders all myself, he'd cut the round if it was bigger or maple.

Nowdays I keep at my house, Dad has a old 049 he still uses all the time, but occasionally he grabs it to prune back little stuff.

I just keep the chain real sharp, and it weeps bar oil after all these years, but it still runs like a champ. The current replacement is ~$200 or so, downside is it was before all the battery stuff so it just has a 12" pigtail electrical cord.

Bar is ~14", sharp chain I can do 8" trees any time. Check the bar oil & plug it in, runs all the time. Has enough torque I've had it kick & the guard kill the motor, prob is a ~10-12 amp motor just guessing.

If you want a pre-fabbed chainsaw holder, or just ideas, they sell ones for quads & side-by-side - check the sites that vendor aftermarket stuff for them.

Make sure you check the different Dewalt saws. They make a 20v and a 60v. The 60v uses diff batteries. My buddy’s is the 60v. It rips through logs and good as my Stihl Farm Boss.

The battery powered stuff is cool. I’m not afraid to admit it. Being able to run a battery powered blower, trimmer, saw and not go deaf seems pretty cool to me!

Reading the fine print on Dewalt's Flexvolt line (the 40V MAX and 60V MAX) the batteries are backwards compatible with their 20V MAX tools. I already have several of the 20V MAX tools so that is a great incentive for the Dewalt saw. The 20V tools will just run two/three times as long with the larger batteries.

I use a small, cheap 40v saw for trail clearing and firewood cutting when camping. The battery life is outstanding. I've never had to use my backup battery. It still leaks oil but I just jam a paper towel in the bottom and it doesn't make a mess.

All you ladies bring your cute Lil' electric saws, I'll bring petrol Man saw...;)..lol

I'm seriously considering a Engo / whatever other battery -powered for my next weed blower. I'll check Dewalt since I have their other crap.
Sometimes I just want to push a few leaves, etc, -not find my earplugs & smell like 2stroke exh like I just mowed/edged/etc.

I know we aren’t exactly hugging any trees by owning Land Cruisers but there is this:

How did this thread turn into a conversation about the Prius’s of the chainsaw world???

Personally, I don’t mind hauling my MS 250 in the cargo area and inside its plastic carry container but I also think some of the exterior saw mounts I’ve seen are very interesting.

F**k the environment! And when you have sizable balls no need to compensate..

This is about stinky, high maintenance, weeping, chainsaws, but maybe that’s how y’all like your women too!:flipoff2:

*disclaimer: it is demasculating to run electric instead of gas

You guys made me think about my chainsaw, which has been neglected for a long time. This week, I promise, it will buzz again.

Let's get back to the mount before Aloha Jen will post some pictures here and this thread will be moved to chat.

Inside or outside rack mount. (damn, I mentioned Jen and I'm already typing all the bad things here).

I'm rated to 12t cranes @ work. I own a (broken ATM) bulldozer. And I was welding by 13.
Farm/country kids don't obsess when our vehicle is on the lesser 50% of GVWR rigs we operate.

Besides, we still burn the coal to make the juice to run the blower. Better now?
