Yep, so I have had my switch to do the CDL sitting in my glove box for about 5 months now. I smacked my drive shaft on a rock a few weeks ago so I had to take it off to get it retubed. I needed to lock the CDL so I could still drive it on the front DS so I went ahead and installed the switch. I made a quick video of the process while I was at it. As one kid in Afghanistan used to say to me...."To easy sergeant, to easy"........

Thanks, neatus. Being new to this whole addiction ... er ... hobby, watching someone work through this helps. Looks straight-forward enough, even for a -1:banana: mechanic like me.

You don't to remove the foam from the security nor do you need to disconnect those connectors. If you look at the security panel on the back, both sensors are inside of a plastic shaft. Merely twist the out and they slide out of the shaft. Much easier.

Thanks for the tip. I will see if I can get some time to take apart the dash again and get some footage to edit into this video. I may just add a note to the video.

Ehhh, that video is okay I guess. I give it one thumb up. It is on an LX450 so it is totally different. In mine you get to hear my sweet voice and I know that is what ya'll want. You can play it before you go to bed and get a great nights sleep having dreamt of my voice whispering CDL.....no ABS.......4HI......cheap mod........sleep tight little one.

Okay so I don't know where I'm going with that. Anywho....I have a video too I guess.

I am going to go ahead and try and record everything I do to the Cruiser just in case it is helpful to even one person.

sorry to be the uniformed here, but does this imply that not all 80's came with a CDL switch?.. obviously eh!!:meh:

i am assuming then at some point Mr Toyoto opted to get ride of the CDL, and make the center diff only lock when the truck was put in low..
on these truck
when was the cut off for not having this switch?

I am not sure about all the details but I think U.S. spec 80s just didn't come with that option. I think 80s destined for other countries got them.

91-92 had the stock CDL "curved" buttton that fits the dash perfectly. (read as the 93-94 with the same dash did not come stock with the button, but easily sourced from a previous year). The 95+ I believe you have to use a rectangle switch (like a common toyota haz switch. TMK they all have the wiring in the dash to accomplish the install. This of course is US spec models.
