The floor guy is coming tomorrow. All the painting is done. I put on two coats on the block after this.

My electrical solder is rosin core. Why can't I find rosin flux in paste or brick? Does "regular paste flux" work for soldering electrical (rosin core) solder to steel and brass (sometimes I want to keep oxidation down as I heat things up before I melt the core of the solder for flux, akin to a pre-argon purge with a TIG welding method)? Basically, I can't tell what the difference is between sweating plumbing fittings, and rebuilding an automobile?

How can I determine if a mid '70's computer is functioning?

I'd like to resmog with the VSV valve for just fuel tank vapor functions.

Several manufacturers make rosin based flux in pen or small bottle applicators. Use in well ventilated space and thoroughly remove any excess after soldering with flux remover. What year is your truck? The emission control repair manual for your year will give you all the specifics for your emission computer and peripheries.

The '75 version energizes the evap VSV when vehicle speed exceeds 12 MPH and deenergizes when vehicle speed decreases below 9 MPH. These are the values in the book.

I assume when you say "re-smog" that your truck was "de-smogged" including the evap system? Is the VSV still there?

Finally finished leveling the floor. It had a high spot that needed ground off and a low spot that needed filled. Ready to tile.

08600-00012 untested radio currently for sale on ebay for $750. Run away. I have some of these that have been gone through and bench tested. If you need one, we can make a deal for far less than they are asking.

First time seeing this thread! Great stuff and good to know for recommendations when people need repairs.
