The led and the LC sticker really balance it out.

I have been talking with the owner Eric of CampTeq and I’m about to pull the trigger on one of these ultra cool pop up campers.

Dump the Lightway off road trailer, dump the RTT and be the first on my block with one.

What do you guys think? - CampTeq.com

I want to purchase a Campteq pop-up. I have money and I have an 80-series. Unfortunately I cannot seem to get through to Campteq / Eric. I have left voicemails and emails but Have not received a reply. Now I see that the Campteq domain is available. Does anybody know what's up? Should I just give up? Or is there some other means of contacting the company / Eric.
Thanks for any info.

Im in contact with Eric and nothing is going to happen anytime soon but that is not to say it will not happen sometime.

In yet another story of Campteq lineage, back in the day some people would made thier camper out of a huge hollowed out log. I think the aluminum Campteq is easier on the suspension...

2 year review - After 100+ nights in a CampTeq - 5 Stars

My 2 year CampTeq anniversary was spent with Eric Mr. CampTeq himself on the beach in Mexico for a few days.

Something you rarely will see - A stuck CampTeq

Getting stuck at the end of the day with the tide coming in adds more excitement.

Getting out just before sunset. Go with its not the F'up but the speedy recovery that counts system.

Hiding from the Policia counting waves. A favorite of CampTeq owners.

After 2 years my bed/mattress set up consisting of a suspension base and an EXPED mattress is as good as it gets. Some of the best night sleeps I have ever had. Add in the sound of the ocean makes you not want to ever get up but I normally dont miss a sunrise on the beach.

The only change after two years is no different than the one year change needed. Because of my last minute rear window (so I can see the stars in bed) I need a rear rain fly. The window closes using Velcro and is not water proof. My plan is to add a snap on rain fly. Being able to Keep the window open in our monsoon storms for ventilation is important.

Otherwise Im 100% happy with everything else. The design is unparalleled with anything else out there is stands well above any RTT out there. Setting only 5" above the factory roof line it can do things no other roof top set can do.

Try this with your RTT

The top does not seem to effect mileage as I get way better than most. The only time I do notice the top is in high winds I tend to get pushed around more. With a total weight 135# I can still rally drive with the best of them on or off the road.

The latest addition of the rear ladder makes getting on top for viewing a nice option. If needed I could use it to get into the CampTeq but I dont ever see that happening. The side ladder is much safer getting in and out in the middle of the night after an evening of adult beverages.

The only other small issue and its personal is being level when I sleep.:princess: Because it takes under 10 seconds to set up I spend WAY too much time making my 80 level. The fix in on its way Im getting a set of foldable (bad a$$) sand ladders made in Germany ( only 2 sets are known to be state side) that will double as ramps for leveling.

After 2 years it is still the perfect set up for me and it has changed the I travel and camp for ever.

For those that are wondering I did not cut my top ......................yet:hmm::grinpimp:

Come to the dark side already.

Your rear window is in addition to the standard rear window with the zipper correct? If so, I can't see how you don't get any water leaking in at the bottom, although maybe you haven't seen heavy heavy rain? On mine the rain pools up in the canvas lip that covers the zipper and slowly leaks through. I can usually throw a towel up there to soak it up, but I ended up making a temporary rain fly out of tarp that I've had to use in extended inclement weather.

The above is a nuisance, but I agree with your overall assessment. Total game changer when it come to camping in my 80.

Gotcha. I have a small camo tarp that I've duck taped into the shape of the roof (think wrapping a present) that I throw on the back in bad rain. Accomplishes that same thing as yours.

I know all about awning frustrations. My Hannibal shrank and forced me to cut up the custom aluminum mounts Eric made for my top. Was considering another for the side until this happened. Since I already have the mounts I'm considering making my own.

BIOR should have released by now ( I saw the prototype) Hannibal style awning you might want to check out.

Phil, got a link? Did a quick Google search but didn't come up with what you referenced here. thx.....

Nice writeup on the CampTeq, BTW.

My rebadged ARB awning now leaks like crazy:bang::(

Ditto.

On the recent trip up to Utah we got rain on several evenings, and I was PO'd that the damn thing started leaking.

Not to mention the worry about the plastic D ring for the velcro strap. Once that thing breaks, then what? It would have cost them maybe .05 cents more to put metal D rings in instead...

In ARB defense they are sending me a new tarp almost a year after my purchase.

Personally I dont see this as a fix. It is my belief this is a heat problem and it will do it again. My plan is to take my leaking tarp and waterproof the seems and stitching via Utube waterproofing system. :hillbilly:

Good point on the plastic D rings I will keep my eye out for metal replacements.

I spoke with Mike from Bump it off Road while at he Expo and he literally just finished the awning days before the expo so it won't be on his site yet.

hmm, I'll have to double check mine, but they sure feel like plastic.

BTW, the dimmable LED lights were a big hit in UT.
