My camping set up is all about easy and food is a big part. Up until recently (today) my camp breakfast has been instant maple oatmeal and a banana. Although the past would make my mama proud I was looking for change. Along comes cooking in a Ziplock bag  not new but new to me.

Tools needed:
Pot (7" wide)for boiling water
Stove for heat - I use a Jet Boil
Ziplock bags
Variety of ingredients - your choice but should include eggs

Ingredients:
2 eggs
Spinach
Pre cooked turkey sausage - 1
Cheese
Salt/pepper

Procedure:
Cut it all up and throw it in a Ziplock bag
Remove excess air from bag - not sure why I did this but it seems to work:hillbilly:
Into the boiling water for 12 mins - why 12mins, it looked good at that point:D

In the future for camping I will use a tortilla (no dishes to wash)but I didn't have any at the casa for the test so I used a plate.:meh: Add some sliced avocado and salsa...wala

For my first attempt Im totally happy and it tasted good

A couple of other notes making this appealing to me: The water can be from any source. When done you have safe warm water to wash and clean up with. Nothing sticks to the bag so a quick wash and you could reuse it:hillbilly:

Whats on your easy breakfast menu?

It's not breakfast without BACON.

Great idea. I have been stuck on Greek yogurt for a while.
A good way to transport the eggs is to crack them open and dump them into a nalgene wide mouth bottle. No carton to dispose of when camping and no cracked/broken eggs in the fridge. I also crack them into a measuring cup so I can pick out any shells that may be in the eggs before I add them to the nalgene bottle.

I will get cracking on a recipe. Thinking some potato and turkey chorizo has some possibilities. I would assume anything too fatty could be problematic.

Here's an interesting fact that few people, even many professional chefs, don't know.

Try cracking eggs on a flat surface like this :bang: and not the corner of a bowl or the corner of the counter top to eliminate shells in your eggs.

Another Helpful Hint from Heloise.

While not as good as fresh eggs of course, those purchased pre-done eggs in a small carton thing ain't so bad. Still have to fry 'em or whatever in a pan, so not quite as quick and easy as Phils idea.

I've never seen it with a raw omelette..thanks for sharing, I know what I will be having instead of instant oatmeal next camp trip.

I've had stews, chili, etc made prior to hunting trips up north in the late fall that we would heat up in ziplocks the same way. Really can't be beat for fast warm food without resorting to Dinty Moore

dang! that looks great!! Yum! ok I am going to lunch now..

What's wrong with Dinty Moore?:frown::D

Phil, thanks for sharing.

This is awesome man!!

Been camping my whole life and never seen the "ziplock omlet"... too cool.

About camping foods, for some reason there is nothing better than homemade chorizo and egg burros to me!!

Its a tradition my pops always brings it for us when camping.

Boiling a Zip Lock bag causes cancer in the state of California. :flipoff2:

Vienna sausages are easier.

We usually do egg beaters, Johnsonville breakfast sausages and hash browns. Add shredded cheese and some tortillas.

If we're car camping, what else do we have to do besides make a nice meal? We just picked up a camp Dutch oven to expand our camp meal horizons.
When backpacking, it's all about ease and lightweight so it's usually instant oatmeal and freeze dried meals.

I can tell you, I will never use egg beaters "egg whites only" ever again. I used them once. I poured it in the pan and it looked like something from a really bad Bukkake porn scene, if you get my drift. They looked fine cooked, but the visual ruined it forever.

Eggszactly!! I throw the coffee on the fire first, and the start the fryn pan with about 6 slices of pre-cooked bacon. It warms up quick and has just enough grease to do up 2 or 3 fried eggs. Fast farm food. Quick and easy, and cleanup just takes a paper towel to wipe out the pan. Ready for tomorrow. John

Dang Baggins you've ruined egg beaters for me before I even tried it :flipoff2:

When the weather is decent, I've been camping where the cooking was an event. Many times including the use of dutch ovens. In the hands of a capable dutch oven master, many meals were unforgettable.

Just don't get the "egg whites only" version
brittan is a damn fine Dutch oven chef.

Lots of great ideas here.

One camp breakfast we have found over the years to be quick, flavorful, no clean up and very good is quiche. Pre make them in single serve or larger pie pans. Easy to heat over a stove or campfire.
Get as creative as you wish with your favorite breakfast flavors.
A favorite mix of mine is eggs, bacon, spinach, ricotta cheese, bell pepper and mushroom. Makes great leftovers too and stores very well when pre-made.
