Got Land Cruiser

Just pulled the trigger on an '06 TLC, 93K owned by the owner of a south Texas Toyota dealership. Completely loaded, all records, 90k service done, new Michelins, DVD headrests added, Beige/beige. $24,250. Now for the bumpers, suspension, winch and sliders!
Let the games begin!
Thanks for all your help in this acquisition. You can expect to hear more from me after I take delivery and start the build.

Hey Guys, I wanted to get some opinions here, I'm looking at two Crusiers:

2001 LC, 165k Miles, Stock, Exhaust Manifold Leak, Asking 9000
Interior is supposed to immaculate

OR

1998 LC, 175k miles, Slee Sliders, Slee Bumper, Electric Rear Locker, HIR Headlights, Asking 10,500.
Interior is supposed to clean, with a little cracking on the front seats.

What are your folks thoughts?

Thanks,
Nate.
Just based on that info, I would go with the '01. For ~11500, you could have the '01 and add Slee slider, front bumper and HIR, but also have 10k less miles, 3 years newer, immaculate interior, and TRAC, which is considered by some, to be superior to just the rear locker. Of course, if you can talk him down a bit on price, you can do even better.

New to LC100's with a question

I am looking to buy a 2001 with about 250K on it. I have the history and it looks like everything has been done on schedule as for the belts and oil changes. My question is what else should I be looking ( other than rust ) at with an LC with this many miles? The suspension sounds like something is loose.
Thanks,
Craig

The suspension has a lot of bushings that are more than likely extremely worn. I have 215k on the clock and have replaced all bushings. It could also be worn out shocks that make noise.

Definitely a bushing on the lower shock mount. You'll want to just do the routine things, check shocks, brakes, etc. Check to see if starter has been replaced. That will be coming due soon if not. Mine just turned 230k and it's a 1998 and I could not be more confident in it. No doubt it will go another 100k with routine maintenance.

Not a real big job. May run into some stubborn bolts. I believe 'utahfj62', a MUD member, put together a complete list of all the bushings and part numbers. Search the forum, you will find it. Also, replacing your stock shocks is really easy and inexpensive.

2004 LC or 04 lx

Ive been looking around and I'm not quite sure which one I should pull the trigger on. Light camping with the family and once the wife is done with it like to set it up for some trail use. I'm sure the slee family and I will become good friends. Any quick thoughts will be great. Looking to purchase this next week

All things being equal, I'd personally buy the Land Cruiser because it doesn't say "Lexus." That being said, there are a few features the LX has that the Land Cruiser doesn't. Does the LX you're looking at have AHC? Nice feature while it's your wife's daily driver, but a hurdle to overcome (i.e. remove) once you start modding it. Good luck!

Hi guys.

I am looking at getting a later model US Spec 100 or LX470 i.e. '06 or '07 to add to the fleet for my wife. No mods at first :( just a family car for now. :(

I wanted to get some 100/LX drivers opinions on their experiences regarding pricing of the vehicles.

So far, I have been looking on Toyota/Lexus dealers websites, eBay, autotrader and Kelley blue book to name a few. It seems that the "retail" sales prices for these are a lot higher than I had originally anticipated.

What are your thoughts on pricing of 100/LX's based upon the following?
- being from the Salt regions up north vs. the warmer more arid climates?
- having higher mileage i.e. +/- 100,000 miles?
- various installed options?

I.e. what kind of price drop would be applicable to the sales price based on region, mileage, maintenance and options.

Conversely, what kind of premium should I pay for Certified Pre-Owned model from a Toyota or Lexus dealer?

Any input or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I bought my '07 from Kansas City with 102k miles on it, one owner trade in at a Toyota dealer, and had spent it's life in Western MO, for $28,990. It has very minor surface rust here or there on the frame/suspension components (not full blown rust belt style, but the same amount that is starting to show up here on WA cars that regularly drive the passes here since WSDOT decided to start mixing salt with sand). I think the only reason it wasn't CPO was the mileage. The same time I found mine, there were two other CPO '07 Pacific Blue LCs for sale, up in the North East, one with 54k and one with 36k both in the high $30,000s. The interiors were both in worse shape than the one that I bought, especially the driver's seat bolsters and steering wheel, but just because of the low miles and CPO (perhaps location too), they were quite a bit more money.

I searched seriously for 7 months and had to go to KC to get the color/etc. I wanted, and the prices were all over the place, a lot were ridiculously high, with some reasonable ones mixed in.

Hope this is of some help, keep searching, you'll find the one you want.

Price Chec,k - Low Mileage 2004 TLC

Been searching for a replacement to my 1995 FZJ80 I sold ~ 1 year ago. An acquaintance is selling a 2004 TLC with ~ 40,000 miles. In very good stock condition and no AHC. Asking price is $30,000, very close to NADA for clean retail. They are not anxious to sell so they are sitting firm on price. In fact, they knew I was in the market and mentioned they would be willing to part with it for the right price....$30,0000.

I'm very tempted to pull the trigger; it meets all my requirements having no AHC and low mileage. Haven't run across one in a long time with mileage this low and no AHC.

$30,000 is a good amount of money, so want to be sure I am not over paying.

So what do you think?

Very much appreciate any advice.

99 LC

I have a black 99 LC 140K miles that I have owned since 2003.
Right now our summer nanny is carting the kids around in in, but after the summer I am looking to sell. (may be able to part with it sooner).

Never off-loaded. Only family driven . . . like most on this forum I like to tinker with my cars . . .

After Market options:
Old Man Emu lift kit purchased from slee off road (I have all stock parts but shocks)
Borla exhaust (not obnoxious - nice)
K&N cold air intake (I have stock air box)
Pioneer Ap radio (I have stock radio)
20” TSW wheels (I have stock)
Newer brakes

Serviced with Amsoil everywhere (Oil, front & rear diff, tranny, transfer case etc)
Never had a problem with her in 10 year ownership except contacts on starter needed changed.

Looking for about $13,900
Where is a good place to list her to sell?
Located in Columbus, OH.
