How does $16,900 sound for a 89k mile 2000 LX470? No 90k svc yet but looks real clean. For sale at a r.v. lot that the owner buys and sells landcruisers for fun. They were originally asking $18,900 for it about a month then dropped it to $17,900 now $16,900

Well, I recently bought a 2000 LX470 w. 93k that had the 90k service done (clean Carfax and no rust) for $15k. See if you can get the seller down ... or you can buy my white one for $16.5 so I can move up to a 2003 LC :)

I suppose it all comes down to how much you want to spend. I just purchased my 03' for $19k plus change... for me it was worth a few extra miles to get the side airbags, the five speed transmission, and the upgraded interior.

Best of luck!

You bought a 2003 Lexus LX470 for $19k? Or did you get a 2003 Land Cruiser? LX's usually run about $2-3K more than LC's for the same year. So, if you got a 2003 LX470 for $19k (how many miles), that is a heck of a deal!

Since you can get close to 300K miles out of it that should be a steal of a deal.

Would this scare you guys...

Hey all, I am looking into buying a hundy in the next couple of months, or until i find the right one. Recently I came across this one, and am very interested. Here are some details and concerns
1. The Miles, 147,000 Would this amount of miles scare you guys off.
2. One owner with most of the records, I think PO got all work done at the dealership.
3. It is in great shape, and drives really well.
4. Has a slight steering wheel shimmy at 60-75 mph
5. PO traded it in on a new Land Rover
6. Its very close to me
7. I already got the price lowered to 14,000

What do you guys think?

Thanks so much. I will be using it for family fun, camping, towing small boat and exploring.

Ask about the tranny, if it has been replaced or not. my 2000 has shimmy at 65 and then tranny went out. if it well known problem of 2000 models( and some others)

Beantown,
I think the price is too high. I have recently read and seen of 2002 with less than 100K miles going for $16K. The miles are no big deal, as a quick around read in this site will prove.
The positives are the service records, look for the 90K service receipt.
If you choose to buy it have them fix the shimmy by re-balancing or replacing tires what ever is required. Put that in the "they owe" sheet.
The burgundy color is real nice, very rare to see where I live in CO. One thing you should know if you buy it - You are a lot smarter than the PO!! That fool traded for Land Rover.

Good luck

I got a Land Cruiser...

I was merely recommending he identifies what features he wants, then buys the cleanest example he can find (whether it be a LC or an LX).

I plan on keeping my rig as a driver till 250k miles, then wheeling it to 300k!

Do you guys think 14,000 is still to high? Do you think i should get the motor compression checked or a leak down check. I think i will call the dealership and see if they will give me the records.
Anything else you guys think i should look for?

Thanks
Beantown

I paid $16k or so for my 1-owner 2001 w/ 90k that had never seen anything more than speed bumps in mall parking lots... and that was a year and a half ago, so I find their list price ridiculous.

You could always play up the 2000 transmission risk (you can also play on the "high mileage" since they are a LR dealer) and low-ball them with $14k + a year or two of warranty... while they think about it you can shop around. You will find better deals, especially with Atlanta being a quick trip down I-85.

Looking at a 2001

I'm looking to make the jump to a 100 series. I've read thru alot of the 100 threads.....wealth of info!

I'm going to check out a 2001 with 105k, for $14,000. Not sure if the 90k has been done.

Assuming the 90k has been done, what do you think of the price?

That would be a great price around here if the 90K svc is done, pending condition of the rest of the truck. i paid $16k for my clean 2001 with 120k miles and 90k svc. Maybe a little high, but I love it and dont regret at all.

I talked to the owner tonight. Its a 1 owner vehicle with service records, the 90k was done, the interior is "prestine", he is firm at $14,000. I am going tomorrow to check it out.
