FYI, I am fresh off a 2003+ "right around 100K miles" search myself and I ended up with a 2004 with 107K miles with timing belt service done at 88k for $20,000

I assure you that if you keep looking you can come up with a better deal than that one.

My aunt finally agreed to sell me her 2003 Land Cruiser after years of asking. :p It has 124K well cared for miles. Never been offroad, all maintenance done religiously. Never been in an accident and no current issues. All for 15,000. What do you think? Good deal? Oh also just bought 4 new tires last month and a new battery and a Jaos bull bar, which i think i want to sell and get an Arb bumber. Anyone interested??

Now what should I upgrade first? I would love to lift it but not sure if i really should. I'm in Los Angeles, where should i get the truck lifted at?

I don't think you'll need those Blizzaks in LA . Are those 18" wheels, and what tires did you go with?

Good idea... lose the Jaos and get a real bumper like an ARB... or a BIO like mine :flipoff2:

I have chance to buy a wrecked 2000 lx470. Whole front quarter has been hit fairly hard. Airbags went off, and windshield is wrecked. The seller does not know what to ask for it. I want it for a 2uz swap for my 80. How much should I offer?

Hello all. Just joined IH8MUD. A week ago I bought a 2003 Land Cruiser, with 50k miles, black and grey, with the tan interior. Excellent condition, not been off road. It was a trade in from a retiree during Toyota days at a dealer for a brand new one. I assume it has all options, except AHC, which I do not believe was an option that year. It has a bull bar on front and light guards in the rear. I paid 29k out the door, with a 3mo 3k mile warranty. They are so rare around here (south Texas), I was quick to make the deal. Especially with so few miles. Any thoughts?

If the truck is in good shape, was driven by an old man and comes with a warranty (meager warranty... but at least it's something); I think you did good.

The KBB Dealer retail suggested price is about $32,800 (from inputing the data that you supplied). Your deal - 29K out the door (inc taxes/title etc...); not too bad :grinpimp:

Enjoy your new truck!

Someone in the DFW Area to Look at a '99 LX470

Greetings,

After taking a detour through a '99 Range Rover (not bad, just miss the Toyota quality!), I have found what seems to be a good deal on a '99 LX470 in the Dallas/Ft Worth area at a dealer. It was first on eBay.

Lexus : LX - eBay (item 270698937605 end time Jan-31-11 20:17:33 PST)

The 90k service has been done, and it seems to be in good mechanical condition with no needs and a properly-functioning AHC. I live in KY, and will pay for a pre-purchase inspection, but I am also wondering if any MUDDers live in DWF, and know anything about the seller, and might be willing to go by and take a look at the vehicle. I have spoken to the seller, and we have agreed in principle on a price IF everything checks out.

Thanks,

Will

Yes. I have. We are in the process of completing the deal. Before the money is sent though, I am having it inspected at a place recommended by the Plano, TX Lexus dealer (Park Place Lexus; they do not do PPI's): Davenport Auto Co. I'll know ALL about the LX come tomorrow morning, and be able to determine if the price we agreed on is REALLY a good deal. Of course, having a MUDers eyes to look it over would be nice too. I hope it works out for me.

Only "funny" thing I see is the extra aftermarket alarm remote....

Other than that, looks really clean!

That looks like a remote starter fob. I have one on my 2000LC. One of the best mods ever, especially in the winter to get the truck warmed up w/out going out into the snow.

It was put on by the first owner (was that a dealer option???). I'm the third owner.

If they took pictures at their business location that's about 5 minutes from me, but I'm not the guy you should use to go and look at the car for you. If I were in your shoes I'd call Sewell Lexus for an inspection.

PM me if you need any help.

Thanks for the input, everybody. As I mentioned, the Park Place Lexus dealership service dept of Plano recommended I go to Davenport Auto to have the inspection done. They are doing the inspection at 9 AM tomorrow (Friday). The guy said they have plenty of experience with Lexus, and will go over the 470 with a fine-tooth comb, and give me a very thorough report. I'll be sure to ask about the extra key fob too. Hope to be given a very good report by lunch tomorrow.

If imwas in town id have looked at it. How much are they charging you to look it over? I know Buddy at "The cruiser shop" has checked out all 4 of my families used land cruiser purchases and every time he has been right. If I was in town id do it for you i just bought one same color and mileage in dallas 25 days ago!

Wow, that's ironic. Hope you are enjoying your LX. Thanks for being willing to look at it (even though you are not able). They are charging quite a bit ($185; that's about $85 more than I have paid before), and I certainly hope it is as thorough as they say it will be (I don't pay until after the inspection when the shop calls me, and emails me the report).

Part of the inspeciton should I hope include compression testing, wheels off brake and suspension. The price as posted (if that's what you're paying) is GREAT. I just purchased my 98 LC this last New Years eve (2010) and paid $11,000 from a private party. 157,000 miles, but it has the rear dif lock ;-)
I didn't notice, does this model have the dif lock? In fact, do LX's even come with a dif lock or do they all have some kind of ATRAC or something.

Hope it works out for you!

No diff lock (i dont think that was even an option for lx in the us) and atrac wasnt added til 2000. However im enjoying mine just the same, i paid a little more (14.8k) for basically the same car, milage, and everything, looks new inside, stealer records of its service were like clockwork every 5k. All work even tires and oil changes were done at a reputable stealer, actually park place in plano. Its arb or nothing for us unlocked lx's prior to 2000 though but for 12-1300 installed its probably about the same as someone would charge extra for one vs unlocked.

MAKE SURE to ask your people to see if that 90k service was done. A dealer will put a sticker under the hood saying when timing belt was replaced. If they didnt insist they do it for you. Also ifnit doesnt come with a second master (key with remote built in) make a copy for the 200 the stealer will charge you before you lose it otherwise be prepared to drop some serious $$$ for a new key and ecu.
