i know smart ass..

Easier to just weed through 100 stuff than to weed through everything...but guess that is too easy. LOL

Wasn't intentional breaking of the RULES.:flipoff2:

Agree with Roverrad95 -

Sounds like a good truck. High road miles with good maintenance is no problem. Bald tires are a plus so you can get what you want. But you should bargain down with that too.

Price is high. But if you have snow in your market anything with 4 wheel drive is at it's peak price right now.

Price the cruiser here.

Even if you feel you have to paid a bit more than you want you'll be happy with the purchase. A couple thousand isn't much over the life of the vehicle.

I bought my wife's '99 with 192K in 2007 and haven't looked back. Now has 241K, and it still runs great and looks new when polished up. Sans needing some u-joints for some driveline slop. Only maintenance beyond oil required was a ABS booster pump. Not bad IMOP.

I think the price is OK. I paid 3K more than that three years ago with new carpet, new 18" LC rims, new tires and new all weather floormats all with a second set of 16" rims and tires. So the price might be a tad high, but it's close. If it's clean and been well maintained, it's worth 9 or 9.5K.

Number seems real high to me. I paid 12.5K in Oct. 2009 for my 2000 TLC with 79K. Plenty of rust form Ohio roads, but that's just normal here.

So my question is this- should I jump and know that 200K miles is just getting started with the LC- (especially considering it's maintenance record), or should I hold out for a lower mileage specimen? Hoping some current owners can shed some light. Thanks!

I just bought my 100 a couple months ago. It's a 98 LX470 and it had about the same mileage - so far no complaints. I would just make sure to look out for rust (get under the car) and find out if that was the first or second time the timing belt got replaced. The fact that it's the original owner is encouraging though. Good luck

When I was shopping around for my LC I ran into a couple of 100s that were listed at too-good-to-be-true prices. Almost every time they'd have a bum number at the other end, but once I got a woman via email who was obviously trying to pull some scam. So they are out there. And LCs are apparently enough of a status item that they're using them as lures.

That said, you never know what can happen. Police or bank seizures, etc. It's always worth a call. Just keep your guard up and don't let lust open up your pocketbook too readily.

Hey all,

I've wanted a LC for quite some time and am thinking of getting one for a daily driver. I currently have a vette that I drive most days and a '93 Trooper that's lifted and has some other minor stuff done to it. The Trooper is a bit too hardcore (and a 5-speed) to drive daily and I want something that can serve a few purposes- road trip duty, light offroad ability, and daily driver. I know it drinks gas so that's no surprise...

I'm looking at a '99 LC with 190K miles- asking $9500. Exterior-wise, it looks sharp with a few minor scratches and dings, no biggie. The truck just had the timing belt/water puimp service done (dealer sticker on the engine even) and had the oil changed. The guy owned since new and took to the dealer on all service items (and it shows). He has all the paperwork and even the original window sticker. He drives it out of state for work and hence the miles. I drove it and it sounds quiet and smooth, drives great, shifts smooth and has no leaks or smells. Even the CV boots and ball joints look brand new. The only things wrong with it as far as I can tell are: the tires are bald, the sunroof is stuck closed (makes noise but doesn't move) and the driver's seat bolster is torn. The leather is dirty too but I can fix that. My real concern is the mileage for the price. I know these trucks are supposed to last forever but that IS alot of miles to start out on for me for ~$10K. My Trooper has over 200K and has been great and reliable the 4 years I've had it but I only paid 2 grand for that truck.

So my question is this- should I jump and know that 200K miles is just getting started with the LC- (especially considering it's maintenance record), or should I hold out for a lower mileage specimen? Hoping some current owners can shed some light. Thanks!

Well thanks for the input guys! Went to check it out again today with the wife and pulled the trigger! Looks like I'll be picking it up tomorrow. Will post pics

Was it the green one in Highland Park? If so, I checked it out when it was $12.5k, so you got a good deal! I really liked it but I didn't want a 99 w/o the rear locker.

It was in Highland Park- but it's dark gray. Doesn't have a rear locker unfortunately. He did say that he lowered the price alot. Over off Turtle Creek and Lovers Lane?

Greenish gray? this one?

I ended up with a 2000 out of San Antonio. Anywho, congrats on getting a 100, they are amazing.

Need Help

Was wondering what everyone would think was a fair price for this truck? I've seen the CarFax, and it's clean. single owner, in great shape.

2006 Toyota Land Cruiser, $33,990 - Cars.com

This is for my wife. My truck is an '06, and I love it. Could think of nothing better than to get her in one as well...

That's funny that you're looking to get a 2nd for the wife! I've been trying to get mine upgraded out of her ES350 and into an LX. Probably won't happen until kid #2 comes along.

Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of finding a 100 series for the :princess: and I thought I'd stop by and ask you fine folks what you think about a potential purchase.

Price $10,800 firm from a honda dealer (talked them down from $12K)
1999 LX470
191500 Miles
Light tan color (I don't know the official color code lingo yet)
2 owner vehicle
No locker, but it does have the ride height adjustment which appeared to be functioning well.

CARFAX checks out clean, no wrecks or body work from what I can tell.

Premium sound system with flip down tv in 2nd row.

Kansas vehicle, but the undercarriage is very clean.

Maintenance records go up to about 80K in the lexus log book.

Last had the timing belt changed at 90K:confused: So basically it's due right now to be changed again.

Appears to be owned by a grandma, excellent condition overall. Interior is immaculate.

Michelins have probably 75% tread left.

The bad:

-high miles? I'm more familiar with the 80 series so I don't know how the 100's hold up.

-Timing belt appears to have 90-100K on it so it needs to be replaced, but I wouldn't be able to do it until I make the 1000 mile journeyhome from Kansas to Ohio. Kind of a scary gamble, but I'd have to take my chances.

-There was about 3-4mm of play in the PS wheel bearing (using the 12 and 6 o' clock position test on the tire). DS wheel bearing has maybe 1-2mm of play.

-The truck has a decent amount of pull to the right on the freeway. Possibly from PS wheel bearing?

-Small beginnings of a rust spot in the seam located an inch above the rear weather strip on the rear hatch opening (upper DS corner). The hatch covers it up when closed.

-DS tailgate cable rusted/snapped so only the PS is holding the tailgate.

-4" scrape with a 1-2" crack in the PS top corner of the bumper.

Overall I really couldn't find much rust to speak of, it seemed pretty dang clean for a midwest truck. Definitely way less rust than my 80 series.

Here are the KBB values. I'd rate the overall condition between Excellent and Good.

Excellent $11,350

Good
$10,500

Fair

$9,050

So what do you guys think about:

a) The price? Does it seem fair?

b) Do you think I could make the 1000 mile trip home to fix the wheel bearings and T-belt without losing a wheel or killing the motor?:hillbilly:

Part of the reason why I'm interested in buying this from a honda dealer instead of a mud member or another dealer is because this would allow the :princess: to get out of her civic lease without having to pay ~$1000 for tires/body work on the car or having to go through the official honda inspection/end of lease deal.

Thanks in advance, I'd really appreciate your feedback. I look forward to joining this side of the forum soon.
