Hello, All!
We are looking at an incredibly clean white 2000 LX470.
It has 166,xxx on it and they are asking $15,999.
Could you tell me what price I should shoot at them?
Cheers!
Calypso, welcome to the Mud!

For reference, I just bought my Cruiser back in October, also a 2000, with 134,400 on the clock for $13,990. Dealer wouldn't budge more than $500 on the price, they were going to list it for $15,999 but I spotted the Autotrader ad for the vehicle before they even had it at the dealership - it was being shipped up from AZ. I got excited thinking that it was an AZ car until I found out it was a Chicago car it's whole life, sold at an auction in AZ. Came complete with the rusty undercarriage.

Oh well. Cruiser fever got the best of me and I bought it up. Probably could have found a better one, but I got impatient...and black ones around here are pretty highly sought after.
In your case, the LX does have some nicer accoutrements (better leather/wood, AHC, etc), but that seems high to me. I'd offer $12K and see if they will meet you somewhere in the $13s. As nice as these things are, $16K is too much for that kind of mileage, even if it's been meticulously maintained.
Also, do yourself a favor and go look at the car during the daytime hours. Sounds like common sense, but I was stupid and got so excited about seeing the car as soon as it rolled off the trailer, that I did my inspection and test drive at 6:30pm after the sun went down. I missed some things that I would have otherwise asked the dealership to replace/fix/clean as part of the deal (like the 4 large chips in the windshield, pet hair all over the cargo area, etc...). It's the little things that add up after you take ownership that will piss you off!
Anyway, best of luck - and if they won't lower their price, look elsewhere. Don't let the bug bite you too hard or you'll regret it. The right one is out there, let it find you!
