I am giving a review of my experience of Georg and Valley Hybrids plus my experience in trying to buy a 80 series.

I started looking for a 80 back in Sept 2018. I looked on Craigslist as well as constantly searching MUD.

I had a deal with a member here, we agreed upon price and when I gave him a call before I was going to book my flight to Atlanta he said he changed his mind and was going to build an overlander. I said okay, no problem I understand. 2 weeks later I see the truck for sale on Craigslist by someone else who bought it for the asking price (not the same as the agreed upon price I had with the owner), and they were selling it because it was going to cost to much to get it where they want it. Pretty s***ty behaviour on the seller/member of the community I was dealing with!

Next one was on Craigslist, again agreed upon a price, was working on logistics of getting it shipped. After 3 weeks of communication he goes silent, no return emails, won't answer calls. Then I see it listed for $2000 more than the original asking price, CRACKLIST for ya!

Then I see a 93 80 series here on mud. I contact the seller and after a few days he delivers it to @Georg and Valley Hybrids for a PPI. I get the report which shows typical old 80 series that has not been perfectly maintained. George gives advise where to start the negotiations on value and pricing. You have to realize I am in Canada, so the market is foreign to me for value purposes. So Georg's help was tremendous in helping me make the deal a success. I got the truck for the recommended price Georg told me!

OKAY, that's half the battle! It is a 4100 mile drive back to the East Coast of Canada! I ask Georg to make the 80 ready for the drive and on the list of the PPI he gave me I said I want X items fixed. He was heading to Australia at the time so Dominic at Valley Hybrids took care of the work, he also found a few other items he recommended for the long journey.

Georg returned from Australia, drove the truck for a few days to make sure it was all good and it was. He was there every step of the way to help me, and I felt confident in the truck to drive this journey because of this. He meet me on a Saturday morning so I could take possession of the truck and start the journey back east.

If I was a resident in the area Valley Hybrids would receive all my business without hesitation. You folks in the Stockton and surrounding area are so lucky to have such a stand up guy with an awesome shop and crew working there who are dedicated to keeping cruisers alive and on the road!

Cheers, and yes, I know, this is not tech :flipoff2:

In today's day and age when people will bitch and moan about small things but never take the time to say when things go well. It is nice to see someone take a few minutes and recognize some of the good guys.

I know it gets said often but this really is a fairly unique community. Good on you Georg and Valley Hybrids, keep up the good work!

Georg and his crew are stand up folks; I’m very lucky they are local to me !

George has always taken care of me and given great honest unbiased advice; something very hard to find these days....

The a$$hat$ you dealt with here on MUD are becoming more of a nuisance lately. I tried buying a set of seat covers from a guy. Paid him, waited for delivery, and then got a refund (less the paypal fee). He said he sold them locally and didn't want to ship them. That was after I paid him. No call trying to scam me for more money, just a lazy a$$ POS with no spine. The deal was so good I would have gladly paid shipping.

I have heard a lot of great things about Valley Hybrids over the years here on MUD. They have been helpful on the forum and have helped members without expecting anything in return. That's how it should be.

As another person from the other side of the county, I agree that I have also heard nothing but good things about them. Although, I'm not sure I can agree with the last two sentences of your post. It's amazing we have so many businesses on here that are willing to help mudders, but to have that as the expectation that a for profit business is supposed to just help anyone at the drop of a hat is a bit ridiculous imo. Seems like lots of people have gotten more and more entitled on here as of late.

Drove nearly a thousand miles to go see Georg et al in the morning for some Cruiser upgrades!

Not in business, on the forum man!! I want those guys to keep it up and make a profit.

Both Georg and Ward have been exceptionally nice to me over the phone, answered dumb questions, and steered me right on advice. They were way more helpful than they had to be. I think they are pure professionals and I recommend that people should do business with them.

It is hard finding a good reputable shop no matter what you drive. But luckily for me, I am close to Camelback Toyota and when my head gasket went I called a small brick and mortar, dealership and then CBT. CBT after all the work, parts, etc the bill was just over $100 more then the other dealer quoted me and the small brick mortar shop did.

But IF I ever move back to California or passing through and break down I know there is a reputable shop to take the LC to.
