Big day for underlayment and carpet prep.

Pops came over to help put down the Kilmat 80mil and Second Skin MLV (LLP, had both MLV and closed fell foam).

Did the doors a bit also, but not full coverage. Makes everything a nice thud sound, not so tinny.

Vapor barriers are long gone, anyone have suggestion for best ways to replace?

MLV next, started from the back and moved forward. Had to “tile” it a bit on the wheel wells to get it to sit nice, with some Super 77 and gorilla tape to encourage it.

Cutouts where stuff is mounted or the extra thickness would interfere. This will have to be likely adjusted as carpet goes in

Butyl tape and some 4-5 mil poly sheeting is probably your best bet.

What plastics cover this and the other side cable? I can’t find them for the life of me

Got the wheel wells, cargo area, and rear footwell done.

You will notice some dimples on the wheel wells where there was no MLV for fitment around the seat mounts

Working on nailing down the color I want. Looks like health grey, nardo gray, or some variation is most likely. Some examples of both.

Looking good! These are the plastics that cover that area on my 62. Looks like it might be different on a 60 though.

I don’t believe there is a lower trim portion. When I did my carpet I left the seat back connected to the cargo area carpet. You can kind of see if here:

You know, now I understand why the parts were connected……. Welp, maybe I’ll fab up something instead. Thanks for the plastics reference. I may try 3d printing some replacements

Disassembly began on the front end for engine pull prep.

All the emissions crap also coming out, as well as the hood

Anyone know how stock or not this electrical mess is?

EDIT: Looks like the comment I posted (and deleted) regarding your PRP seats was a little out-of-date. You and your pops are making spectacular good progress. It looks like you bought the PRP seats? Do you like them so far?

Regarding new battery Terminal and fusible link set-up will that not depend on your V8 conversion to some extent?

Thanks! I have not purchased new seats yet, but on the lookout. E9x seats are on the table as options also.

And yes I agree with you on the wiring setup. I am planning on a Bluesea Systems breaker/fusebox setup, but need to dig into the wiring of the V8 before i make wholesale changes. IE what to keep from old harness and what to remove.

This diagram shows 6 leads and 5 fusible links from the battery. I think the ignition one will be preserved, but EFI may be different with V8? etc

highly recommend you leave the fusible link stock - use the ECU /ignition circuitry higher upstream to trigger your key-on relays for injectors, ignition, etc. I generally leave FJ62 fuel pump wiring alone for swap (just have to jump two of the AFM wires on the right fender harness) unless there is already a problem in the circuitry but they are usually completely fine.

Is this for ease of integration? I am thinking about the future where the fusible links are going to be harder and harder to find, but i dont mind leaving it.
