Treated myself and the 80 a new set of keys and locks for my birthday :)
Not a very important thing on my to do/ to buy list, but oh man, feels so good to have these! I mean these cylinders are so tight and fresh. Also now I can lock my spare wheel on the carrier.

And now a rather annoying thing. I am replacing my grip handles on both side in the first row. But somewhe I can only order the lower side plugs for these, as they are being substituted.
What I think I need:
2x - 74615-60010-03 NLA superseeded by: 74615-60010-B6, which is also superseeded by: 74615-60011-B6
2x - 74616-60010-03 NLA superseeded by: 74616-60010- B6 which is also superseeded by: 74615-60011-B6
So by the last part nr, seems to be a bug in the catalog as it should end with a 6 instead of the 5, right?
Maybe @OGBeno or @cruiserdan could confirm what I need is 74616-60011-B6?

In with the new, out with the old.
Actually this was a pretty easy job. Inigition and rear hatch is very easy, doors are a bit tricky but nothing impossible.
I would definetly recommend having some trim removing plastic for the mirror trim panels on the doors from the inside, with those I managed to remove it without braking it. Also, the car sat in the sun all day before, that probably helped a bit too.

Little intresting thing, EU and JDM rear door hatch locks are different in size.

Also replaced the valve cover breather hose. Recently I noticed fine oil vapour on the valve cover and air intake where it connects. Also I dont know if the blowby that I have is excess or not, so I replaced the non oiriginal breather hose with the OEM, cleaned up a bit and will oberserve. The oil dirt inside the old hose does not look good at all....

Sould I be concerned?!

Are you coating these parts with anything for protection?

If this truck is from your town for the last 20 years, it will be a matter of time until you land right back here. I am lucky I do not have to worry of such things like salt and corrosion.

Installed some oem turbo stickers, not perfect, but fine for my first sticker install ever.
I dont know if its on purpose, but those curves match the body curves, helped a lot with finding the right position.

This is a sexy ass I think!

1656863271426.png

Also replaced the rubber shifter boots as both was in miserable condition.

Did the first camping trip with the 80, we went to Belgium.

1657863336591.png

It was also the first time girlfriend was out for camping, luckily she really enjoyed it!

1657863379815.png

Fridge and 12V for the back is now a priority to be sorted out.
Other than that, some mosqito nets for the back hatch, but pretty much ready for basic camping!

Little Hzj-80 time!

Last year a I bought a gearbox and transfer to get it rebuild to overcome the worn synchros on the truck.

1660632170120.png

It went to a specialist to get both gearbox and transfer rebuilt. Turned out it was not really neccessary, but now its good to go for sure !

1660632103129.png

And now the rebuild gearbox and transfer is installed with new Aisin clutch set and Toyota throw out bearing. As an extra the new transfer has the PTO opening :)

New rubber on the hzj-80. These are toyo MTs, 255/85 R16. I really like this size and look so far!
However, the Hzj-80 might will be for sale soon. There is a good chance to buy a Hdj-75 (Yes, a 75 series pickup with an 1hd-ft in it), factory locked. Would fit our needs better.
I also missed a chance of a brand new h151f gearbox... Pretty sad about it.

Looks nice, beautiful car. Might be sad to let it go, but a 75 series, especially a turbo diesel one, is awesome.

I'm located in Germany and currently looking for another 80, so please hit me up when it's for sale!

Seat gear work again on the Hdj-80... I just realized I miss the entire shaft two connect the two motors.
I have lead on a nice set of brown non electric fabric seat set from a 97.
I will get some cover on them, loose a lot of weight and all the pain in b@tt with these plastic gears.
Also, no melting ass in the summer from the leather...

Not a lot happening recently, drowned in work... but my daily banana job gave me some happiness :
NOS air filter installed.
1666636861195.png

Also, now I am the happy owner of two partial FT engines to make one good one. Will be a fun project for 2023/4.

Wanted to get this done for such a long time, the leftover glue and yellowish buttons were always hurting in my eyes... will also replace the center control panel frame with a new one along this job, maybe install my OEM radio too.

Before:

There was a lot of disintegrating foam behind the buttons:

No posts recently, but a lot was happening.
Suddenly two more 80s appeared in my yard....how could that happen?
The first one is from the South of France. A lovely 1993 VX spec Hdj-80. All the nice stuff you could get back in the day for an 80 in Europe. This will replace my dads Hzj-80.
- triple locked
- manual
- PTO winch
- AC
- 7 seater with cloth seats
The other one is a British car, stood for a few years. It only has 150k Miles or approx 240k kms, so pretty much nothing for the FT in it :) this one will be parted out for other cars/ projects. Also it has some of the ugliest aftermarket junk that I have ever seen with these taillights....

I love the quad headlights but recently I was thinking a lot of going back to the original ones. As part of it, I sourced a brand new complete left side assembly.
Hard decisions to make :D

Added some storage space today to be able to get the sunshade set out of they way. They are quite bulky actually, it does not hang down to much.

Recently seen some people doing cleaning/ tightening on their seat belts, mine were also due for a maintenance so here we go.

Removing them is quite easy, 2x 14mm and 1x 10mm bolt and the trim pieces.
I found this video very helpful for the belt mechanism itself, 80 series belts are slightly different but the cruical info with the winding spring and the ball is the same:

How to fix slow retracting seat belt

Loose spring, I noted which belt came from which side as I did both front ones simoultenously.

The second soap and hot water round was still very dirty... 3 rounds were needed.

Now the belts are drying, I will make sure they dry properly before reinstalling them cause I dont want any mold to develop in the car.

So the Hzj-80 is sold. It was a sad moment but it went to a great guy.
sneak peak what will be replacing it:

Now that I spend more time at home, more small projects are getting done finally!
First, winch cover was replaced, along the bumper corners. Next step will be the side trim pieces, but I am still waiting on the delivery of the last missing one.

Also started with the subtank project :) The roof console and new, shorter sunvisors are now up:

Beside that, not much was done, busy with part outs and the new hzj75 pickup.
