I finished off the skins by forming the bends. Just welding to do before assembly. I just have one more part to fab before I can assemble a full gate.

So is it to late to get on the list? Either way I would like those tailgate end pieces to PMed about a while back.

Thanks John

I still have gates available. Shall I mark you down then? 3 hinge I would assume?

Mark me down and three hinge is correct. I'll contact Sean about being the AZ group. Would still the two end pieces also for my current tailgate. It will never be perfect but the only part not worth fixing is the end pieces.

Done!

Alright, I am officially "in" if you are still taking orders. Three hinge, old-style (1965). My original will cost more to repair than one of these beauties. Will hang the old one on the wall of my garage for good measure.

Ok, yer on the list!

Put me on the list for one of the 4 hinge varity, please. These look too good to pass up.

Alrightythen

Thank you

I have no plans to ever own another 45 but I`m tempted to buy a tailgate at that price just to put on the wall of my man cave (it`ll have to hang sideways but someday I`ll have a bigger cave than Harry Potter`s closet under the stairs.) I can`t believe every LWB owner wouldn`t buy one of these just in case.

Ditto....

Tailgates

Hi Kevin, Very nice work. Do you still have a three hinge available? If so please put me line for one. Also, do you have any of the Rear racks? Cost on these and the tailgate.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, Tailgate is no problem, I'll update my list. The rear rack? I assume you mean the headache rack as they are called around here. I don't know if I have one set aside for myself or not but I know the rest were spoken for. If I have one for myself I could let you have that one and make myself one later.

Kevin, that would be great if I can get both. Just let me know.

Thanks,
Mark

Alright, I admit it. I've been busy with other things. But I recently got back at these gates. Here are some pictures.

I need to put together the parts I have so that I can have something to test the last part I have to fab (the stiffeners on the backside)

So I welded some hooks

And some end channels

And a skin

Kevin, again your work is nothing short of art. We are all benefiting from your hard work. Keep it up. :) :).

I then took it to the shop and spot welded it all together. The skin panel does have some mild shrinkage issues due to the letter pressings so I paid attention to the tendency of it wanting to twist as I forced it flat. I started by welding the hooks to the top rail...top rail to the skin... bottom rail to the skin. Once I weld the end channels on if its twisted it will stay that way so that was tricky but thankfully quite easy.

Here is the gate missing only the stiffeners and the chain anchors. And some close up shots.
